I remember back in the early 70s and she was on a talk show saying that someday she was going to be a big star.
I remember my husband and I laughing at the very idea.
Boy,did she show us. :-)

There's a hanger named the "Dolly Parton" at TIA. I wish I could find the picture right now...

She doesn’t really sing my kind of music, but she’s a remarkable person. Happy Birthday!

I remember seeing her on the Porter Wagoner Show before she hit the big time. Once on the Tonight Show Johnny Carson said if he had a wish, it would be to peek under her sweater. She was in the guest chair at the time and laughed it off.

I knew the big songs like Jolene and I Will Always Love You and I admired the creation of Dollywood, her bubbly personality and other, ah, assets. But I never bought an album until she covered the song Shine. I heard that version a few times and found it superb, so on impulse I picked up the CD (Little Sparrow).
I discovered that the woman is a fantastic songwriter. Not only musically, but lyrically. Her songs run the gamut of emotions and are quite memorable. I’ve picked up more albums since.
Quite a lady.

A nice interview with a lovely lady. She is also SMART and has an active religious life, I'm told. Those two things are amazing as well.
I've ALWAYS liked her. That movie, 9-5, is a classic funny movie.
To: Twotone
She is awesome, I just think she erred in sticking up for Smiley Cyrus so much

I had DVR’d “Coat of Many Colors” for a neighbor couple who don’t have TV.
They’re really nice people and I enjoy gardening with them.
Anyways when I dropped it off, you should have seen the look on the guys face when I said that Dolly is, BY FAR, the richest female entertainer in history!
They watched the DVD on their computer and totally enjoyed it.

Thank you for that. I had television back then, and I learned about the song from seeing that video on CMT. Nice to see it again!
