Does Anyone Here Write Phone Apps?
Self ^ | 01/13/16 | 50sDad

I have an idea for a brilliant, sarcastic Conservative phone app called "Happy Safe Space Filter" that would be a wonderfully hot ticket with Conservatives, and/or Sarcastic Teenagers. It could either be a freebie for the Cause, or in true Capitalist fashion, would probably sell well at 99 cents. (The joke works I a lot of ways, but would include a little body copy crediting Conservatives.) I claim the idea and would be willing to give it up for 10% of gross. It is a pretty simple thing. If you have App writing experience, please message me here on Free Republic.

No intellectual property protection on ideas. A copyright could be obtained for the app, but it would belong to the creator of the app,

Welll...the form demands you put a web link. And it is obviously a personal post. What do you use when you post a personal post. And hey, nice mouth to a fellow Conservative who's been here eight years plus.

Items posted in Chat do not require a web link.

Well ideas can be protected is via patent. I seriously doubt that a "joke" is protectable or even worth protecting.
And yes the copyright would belong to the author of the code unless there was a work for hire agreement.

I have 14 iPhone and iPad apps in the Apple App Store, but I have enough business.

Learn Swift or Objective C. It’s not hard.

Of course the app is the easy part compared to managing all the content on tbe backend, keeping it fresh daily.

Tell that to Jerome Lemelson and the millions he extracted simply from concept patents.

I repeat. You cannot get IP protection on ideas. However, you can get protection ONCE the idea is reduced to tangible form. Such as a patent.

What a jerk.

Name calling?
A fellow conservative?

You have every right to disagree.
You have every right to think his idea is stupid.

Name calling is childish and unprofessional. He did not insult you.
You owe him an apology.

Wrong. I can get a patent merely based on a concept (idea), provided it meets the minimum requirements of best mode, enablement, and written description. This is without any development of any physical prototype.
