Barack Obama's love of golf has been widely documented, including the time he crashed a wedding at Torrey Pines last October. It's unlikely the next commander-in-chief will share the same zeal for the game that Obama does, especially if Ted Cruz gets elected.
Cruz is on a bus tour through Iowa that covers 28 towns in six days. On Saturday's stop, Cruz was asked if he played golf. According to a New York Times report, Cruz said he played golf, but does so "horribly."
"Do I golf?" Mr. Cruz said, repeating the question. "Horribly. And indeed, to call what I do golf - I do own clubs and I occasionally whack them into the ground and dig holes. But I think golf involves actually making contact with the ball and sending it in the direction of the hole, so by that definition, no, I don't golf."
In a Fox News poll earlier this week, Cruz was second behind Donald Trump with 20 percent of the polled Republican primary voters. If he makes it to the White House, Cruz will need to up his game in order to properly follow in the golfing tradition set by Obama all the way down to Woodrow Wilson. We've got a tip below he can start with.

The last time i golfed I only hit two good balls all day...and THAT was when I stepped on a rake in the sand trap.

The only time I was ever on a golf course was when I was about 10. A friend and I had gotten a hold of a big fireworks rocket. We hopped the fence at the municipal course near us and sneaked into a sand trap. The idea was to launch the rocket high up over the fairway but after lighting the fuse the rocket fell over and went up the fairway at about 3 to 5 feet off the ground.
It set the fairway on fire. Luckily nobody was hurt when it blew up.
Good, that means he doesn’t have much practice.
When you stop and think about it...
The object of the game is to take this little ball that's about an inch-and-a-half in diameter and knock it into a can that's buried in the dirt around a quarter-mile away using these odd-shaped clubs that have a surface slightly larger than the ball.And you've got four swings to accomplish that.
Nope, golf ain't the easiest game in the world...
Golf, like Chess, is not for everybody. Some get into it, and some never will. When younger, I had many tell me I should learn Chess, and they thought I’d really enjoy it. I did, and I didn’t.
Two good balls? Were they still good after stepping on the rake...ouch!
Dear Mr. Cruz,
I could not care less about your ability to hold not lack thereof. I appreciate you subtly making the point that you will not use the office of the presidency to live like a lottery winner.

I want a man in the White House who can shoot better than he can play golf. Probably either Cruz or Trump qualify.
I’m with him. I suck at mini-golf, too. Pointless sport, in my opinion, but some people enjoy it.
