‘Small’ jackpots won by a group aren’t a big deal. Huge jackpots entice even very large pools with a high percentage who don’t regularly buy lottery tickets. State revenue is really all that matters.

Once again I broke even. Didn’t buy anything, didn’t win anything, didn’t lose anything.

But I read a mathematical analysis recently where the author said that once the Powerball hits 450 million (I think that was the number), the math says it's worth it.

The odds are 1 in 292 million. Since tickets are $2, you would have to spend $584 million to get all the numbers and guarantee a winning ticket.

But, you have to remember that you don't get all the jackpot... you get the annuity amount. Then there are taxes. And, there's always the chance you have to share the jackpot with others who got lucky.

RE: It will be all mine.

Actually, not all. Uncle Sam takes half of it.

Sorry - I think you missed my attempt at humor. I was surprised that various states were not playing with state monies- to win the pot.

I understand that it would be illegal- but temptation on win, must be tempting
