Police investigate fatal shooting on BART train near West Oakland station

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on a BART train near the West Oakland station at 1451 Seventh Street in Oakland.

The West Oakland station is closed and emergency responders are on scene, officials said.

Witnesses say a passenger was killed by another rider as the San Francisco-bound BART Train pulled into the West Oakland Station. Witnesses say they noticed a disheveled looking man get on the BART train at Rockridge or MacArthur station.

One witness says he helped the victim to the floor and began giving the victim CPR. He noticed the victim had a knife in his hands.

I’m stunned that they described the race (black) of the suspect.

Murder on the BART Train is not common around here. Harassment, or deliberate annoyance, yes, killing, not so much. Sounds like a score being settled.

Rockridge used to be a beautiful, very upscale area. BART coming through there absolutely decimated the neighborhood.

Stayed at the Claremont up in the hills there once for a trade show conference. I was on a per diem and figured I'd drive into town to buy a six pack of beer instead of $5.00 per bottle at the hotel.

I went into the market and was in line to pay for my beer when the man behind the counter beat some guys head in with a baseball bat. It all happened in a flash. Turns out the guy behind me had a sawed off shotgun and was about to hold up the store. The owner's son must have seen it before it all got a chance to go down.

That is the extent of my pleasures of Oakland. Stay up in the hills and drink the expensive beer.
