I saw the movie a few days ago. I thought it was a good sequel to the original trilogy. Abrams did an admirable job incorporating the old main characters into the new movie. The Finn and Rey have a good chemistry and the movie contains lots of funny/witty dialog which reminds one that this movie is entertainment; and it is. It thankfully lacks the leaden characters and equally leaden dialog of the prequels. Even the new BB8 droid is an entertaining addition to the series. I’m looking forward to the next movie in the trilogy.
I thought it was good, too. I enjoyed it, and look forward to the next. I guess I have no problem with Finn being black than I did with Lando being black. It was just a fun film. Some say predictable, but this is just a set-up for what’s to come.
Well, they can. But only these particular actresses. They are tougher than they look. :)
Fortunately, if and when I ever watch that mishmash of PC so-called SciFi, I’ll be reclining in my chair so sleep will come easy — maybe should make note to self: if having trouble sleeping, watch latest Star Wars ...
this was a jar jar abrams special.
cut and paste from other parts of the franchise and presto the cat is saved.
(btw the blood on hands was a Hitchcock thing)
Rey is Anakin skywalker in the first prequel.
I agree, I didn’t care much for Fin, not very convincing. My mind is...well, never mind what it is but when I heard him refer to himself as FN something, something, something, and then truncate it to just FN, I immediately wondered, with all the other letters available, why would the writer pair those two as the name for a black character. In the urban vernacular, “FN” could mean something some would find quite, uh, derogatory. Hmmm?
I recommend this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW6P5yCGpKQ
I feel like I want to see it out of curiosity, but I know I'm wasting my time.
And it was a Shakespeare thing 400 years before Hitchcock.
I saw parts of the three prequels even later than that: On channel 5, with commercials and all. I never saw one of them from start to finish; they were just so crappy.
I agree; my point was that the tokens at my company (given money & titles) don’t work a minute more than the standard workday (and as a result the rest of us stopped the “unpaid overtime” as well).
out damn spot...
not worth the 3d cost.
To be fair, Kylo Ren is turned into Brown person despite his parents being White. Evidently, joining the Dark Side does make one non-White.
I thought Rey was too godlike in her abilities. She discovered the force all of a sudden and became invulnerable?
I know what you mean though because even the ones that are higher up than most of us at my company (there’s only one left in the dept. but there were 2 in past) and get treated nicer by management, the reason why make of what you will, STILL have the audacity to use the race card, over mundane issues. The person perceives things from a totally off the wall perspective and I do believe they know they’re being intellectually dishonest but they occasionally play it due to the desire to keep everyone kissing their butts. Intelligent person, never thought they’d turn out to be that way until I overheard a couple of conversations.
In my workplace I believe the hyper-sensitivity is to pre-empt any attempt to remove them; they know they have little value to another employer, and this economy really has hit women & minorities hardest - purely as a reflection of how much they contributed. When companies have to cut the fat, producers keep their jobs and the chaff is cast aside.
Some have described to me talking about legal action with HR; this cows the company from having any expectations of them. I don’t complain because over the last couple of years I’ve cut my hours to the bare minimum (which was outlined when I was initially employed); management can do nothing without a much worse legal action on their hands.
