I’m surprised we’re not hearing something about the racial statistics of the population of those who receive “less-than-honorable” discharges.

God only knows how I did it but I got an honorable discharge many years ago.Looking at this story,I,who was never ordered anywhere near combat,am asking myself if head injuries (which,IIRC,were very common in the Gulf wars),other types of physical injuries and/or PTSD might be the cause of whatever misconduct might have resulted in a less-than-honorable.

This is news? Less than honorables have always been this way.

Soldiers with less than honorable discharges earned their scarlet letter and most had several opportunities to turn their lives around. They chose not to.

Benefits are not some welfare program in reward for voting Democrat, it’s deferred compensation for doing their job.

I’m one of them. Vietnam vet, honorable discharge. Filled out the form at the VA office 7 months ago, signed it, was told I’d likely qualify and heard absolutely nothing since. The VA rep acted like he did not care at all.

My point is the place is corrupt beyond belief. No one cares. I will not file a formal complaint, for if they are this bad I really don’t want them to touch me.

The rules of military service are pretty clear.

Well, there’s generally a reason a person is discharged as “less than honorable.” It often has something to do with them being less than honorable.

I don’t see why such a person should be accorded the same bebefits as one who served honorably.

If a man or woman gets anything other than an honorable discharge, they don’t deserve anything else from the government as they didn’t fulfill their part of the contract that they swore to uphold. F”em.

My wife served 6 years in the reserved and sprained her back on duty. They gave her a medical discharge, then denied her medical and then the IRS took back her GI Bill money while she was in school. When we questioned them on it they said due to the privacy act they could not tell if her discharge was due to injury or drug abuse.

One thing the government does well is screw the Vets.

This is nothing new. A less that honorable or OTH discharge has ALWAYS been a dis-qualifier for veterans benefits.

If someone has served more than one enlistment and received an Honorable Discharge for the first term of service, they are still entitled to all of the benefits of that Honorable Discharge even if they receive a less-than-honorable, bad conduct, or even dishonorable discharge in a later enlistment. Juries in military courts are informed that sentencing the accused to a bad conduct or dishonorable discharge causes them to lose all of the benefits entitled to those with an honorable discharge which are administered by the Department of the Army or the VA, but that any benefits that have been vested by (an) earlier honorable discharge(s) would still be forthcoming to the accused.

This means that those who are losing their benefits are those that were still in their first enlistment period AND are being separated from the service with a less-than-honorable, bad conduct, or dishonorable discharge. Even with an administrative General Discharge, some of the benefits still are provided to the service member.

In other words, Obama and his handlers do not want felonies to matter for military enlistment nor felonies committed while in the military to count at all.
