Don’t know how I missed Beethoven’s birthday. I’ll probably listen to the Immortal 9 in their entirety through the day.

Sirius/XM is playing all of Beethoven’s symphonies today. I was listening to the 7th when they mentioned it is Beethoven’s b’day.

I dropped Sirius/XM when they dropped the Classical Pops channel. I remember back when we had station KLEF here in Houston. They would have their "Beethov-a-thon" every Decemmber 16. Each symphony recording featured a different conductor. That was when I first heard Carlos Kleiber's 5th in the late 70's. I rushed out an bought the first of several LP copies. Still enjoy that version (among others).

I listened to #2 coming to work this morning on Sirius. It is always funny to hear how critics panned famous works from back then.

It’s also the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
