Under congressional rules, the former speaker is allowed to keep a Capitol Hill office at taxpayer expense for five years, complete with franking privileges, a budget for office furnishings and three staffers making six-figure salaries.

"I guess they're going to pay for his toilet tissue too," said Rep. Walter Jones Jr. (R-N.C.), who is introducing a bill with Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) to deauthorize the so-called post-speaker office.

Jones and Massie held a sparsely attended press conference Wednesday morning -- The Huffington Post was the only outlet present -- to call for an end to the post-speakership perk.

Boehner said, paraphrased, I believed in smaller government until I got to Washington, then realized it's impossible.

Then what does he do, resign on principle? No he rides the gravy train, empowers Obama, and fights those whose beliefs he used to share.

What a characterless parasite.

Just cut off his liquor, that will stop him. Go home orange man.

You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!-- Oliver Cromwell addressing the Rump Parliament, 20 Apr 1653, as quoted by Leo Amery to Neville Chamberlain in the House of Commons, 7 May 1940

I can’t help but picture him locking himself in his House office with twenty two cases of bourbon, a pile of empty pizza cartons and mail outside the door.

Of course Pelosi will get the same deal when she leaves.

And they wonder why people are pi$$ed off at the government.

We need term limits in the House and Senate. It would reduce their power and stranglehold over the productive citizens.

I could see a 30-day close out period and then it’s goodbye. No liquor cabinet, either!

If a law is passed, it needs to start with the next Majority Leader. You don’t stop something that he earned already.

No, fairly it would start with the next budget period.
Though it may tempt Pelosi to retire if it was a ‘grandfathered’ benefit...

The Ghost of John Boner is going to be haunting Congress for decades anyway.

He has ‘franking’ privileges? As in Barney Franking?

Maybe ‘bonking’ privileges. (Somebody misspelled ‘banking’ like that a couple days ago and I’m still laughing my ass off.)

That would be good news and worth the money to send her away.
