Any algorithm that censors hate speech is also useful to find hate speech.
Say, you want to find out what a proper "facial" looks like. You could google for facials. Google will protect your delicate sensibilities. You will see nothing but cuties getting their faces soothed.
But I dare you to go back to that link and add "porn" to the query. Thereupon, the full potency of Google will be revealed!

There is a thing called
Startpage which uses google's search tools but doesn't pass along IP information when searching.
Thus google still gets whatever it gets but it supposedly doesn't identify the user.
It's *pretty good but not quite as good as google, probably because it is google via a third party, so they tame it a bit.
