Thanks, ObamaCare, for making pizza more expensive (New York)
New York Post ^ | December 2, 2015 | Steve Cuozzo

The owners of popular Brooklyn pizza restaurant Franny’s have begun adding a 3 percent surcharge to every check to cover the cost of employees’ Affordable Care Act benefits. (Restaurateurs with 50 or more full-time staffers must provide coverage by 2016 or be fined up to $2,000 per employee.)

Pizza is really about the cheapest meal you can eat. I doubt anyone will notice an increase on cheap already. Use a company that will have a noticeable effect.

Feinberg and Stephens, no Tea Party types, fear they'll be seen as objecting to ObamaCare. ... Stephens says, "Never has my business been confronted with a $200,000 bill" - their ObamaCare costs. "It's a great law that we just can't afford," she says.

Face it lady, you are one of the evil one-percenters in the world of Obama.

Lol! Exactly. That was about the worst example one could pick. A slice of pizza in NYC is typically around $2.50! 3% of that is 8 cents!

I heard that a slice of NYC pizza can feed a family of 4 for a week

It’s cheap because they are no longer using pure Mozzarella cheese and you’re lucky if you can find a pie with real tomato in the sauce. I can only dream with fond remembrance of a pizza place we used to frequent back in the 60’s.

Didn’t McDonald’s and some others get an exemption from Obamacare?

How is that fair to smaller businesses?

It’s hard to find any of the good, quality ethnic food from the old days. Pizza, meatball heroes, knishes, corned beef/pastrami sandwiches, quality deli heroes on genuine Italian bread, etc.

I was born and raised on New York City's Lower East Side in the 50s and 60s, before we moved to a largely Italian section of Queens in 1970. There were so many excellent pizzerias around then. Nowadays, fur-get-bout-it! Hardly any good ones.

“Pizza is really about the cheapest meal you can eat.”

Depends. There are now a fair number of wood-fired genuine-type Neapolitan pizza places that charge 15-19 dollars for a personal pizza.

Stop excusing the confiscation. Stop excusing the cost.
