Cars are legal in all fifty states.
A driver's license from one state is honored in all 50 states.
If I let someone drive my car, I am not committing a crime in any state.
It is legal for anyone of any age to own a car.
I can operate my car however I want on my own property with no licensing.
You take one course (usually as a teenager), and you can drive on public roads the rest of your life (If you keep your nose clean).
If I'm licensed to drive a car in one state, I won't be hassled or arrested for doing so in another state (or for simply having that license).
There are no federal strictures on modifying a car.
My car won't be confiscated by local, state, or federal government if I seek treatment for mental health problems.
- of if I am accused (not convicted) of a crime-
- or if an estranged lover seeks a restraining order.
If I want to put a muffler on my car, I don't have to appeal to the federal government for permission.
There is no waiting period to purchase a car.
There is no background check to purchase a car.
It is legal to sell cars across state lines.
I do not have to involve a federally licensed dealer to transfer my car across state lines.
Cars are not regulated based on aesthetic or ergonomic features.
I can carry as much fuel as I want to in my car.
If I make money by buying and selling cars, I do not have to worry about committing a crime by not having a federal license to do so.
We need deep background checks before being allowed to vote.
Looks like you’ve got most of it covered! Good work
I don’t know about that. The reason cars today look like scarab beetles is because they’re so heavily regulated, all the restrictions converge on a crappy looking POS.
Speaking of regulations, did you know the annual growth in the Federal Register is measured in pounds instead of pages?
We are being regulated to death.
At least the car still can be used as a car. What if you had to lock the car in your garage whenever you weren’t using it?
They are also way more dangerous.
The car kills those using it a lot more often than the gun does....
And yet you have no Constitutional right to own a car.
Interesting
Who regulates them is another difference. If you placed the making of automobile regulations in the hands of people who hate cars and don’t want anyone to own them, ever, then you’d get the sort of laws you now get out of the gun control side, and for that very reason.
What you need to mention is how many people are killed and injured by cars, as well as the cost of the medical bills. I am sure that this info is readily available.
Absolutely. More deaths from DUI’s than guns.
Maybe a better comparison would be to a motorcycle where you needn’t fasten your seat belt.

you forgot one: My gun doesn’t contribute to global warming.
Next time somebody gives you the stale, old “You need to register your car...so your firearms should be registered too” argument — tell them, “Good point. Cars should not be registered either.”
running people over is much better for the attacker than guns.
they may drive and get away, they may be able to blame a car malfunction, and if they do get caught vehicular manslaughter is far less time than a murder rap.
getting that way in certain places where cops and even garbage trucks scan every license plate possible. now in some cities you cant park in your own driveway if a license scanner cant see the plate.
fuching big brother.
Bummer of a nuisance. Still, the point is that you can kill some random person (if you are bent on that manner of evil) as quick with a car as with a gun. Granted you probably can’t rob a bank as well with the car, but this is not the big panic over guns. The big panic is over the random killings.
Can’t be prosecuted for how I store my car (in sane areas, anyhow).
If I buy a car and give it away, I can’t be prosecuted as a “straw buyer”.
Actually, as your local DMV or MVA will be quick to say, driving is a privilege, not a right.
Per 2nd A, having a gun is a right, hence no need to register. Same goes for bearing it, but we are being oppressed in that regard! (CC licensing).
A bit more esoterically, you could argue that driving is a right, along the lines of freedom of movement.
Nothing in the constitution about the right to own horses.
The bill or rights was not intended to be a limiting document, meaning, just because something isn’t listed there, doesn’t mean it’s not a right. Also the constitution generally indicates what gov can do. If it’s not in there, gov can’t do it. All remaining power goes to the States or the people, per 10th A.
