PEQUANNOCK - A woman who accused a local police officer of pointing his gun at her during a recent traffic stop was refuted by the video evidence.
According to a release from the Pequannock Township Police Department, Irvington resident Hyacinth Peccoo, 50, came into police headquarters on Oct. 28 and said she wanted to file a complaint against an officer who had pulled her over. Peccoo met with Detective Lt. Michael Fairweather, the department's internal affairs officer, and said Patrolman Daniel Caffrey falsely claimed she failed to stop at a stop sign.
A screenshot from the traffic stop video that appears to disprove a woman's claims that a Pequannock officer yelled at her and withdrew his firearm during a traffic stop. The video is available on Suburban Trends' Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/suburbantrendsNJ Hyacinth Peccoo "She went on to claim that the police officer yelled at her and removed his firearm and pointed it at her," said Capt. Christopher DePuyt in the release. "... Peccoo stated that she asked the officer if he was going to kill her in broad daylight. She completed a written statement of this account and her interview was audio and video recorded."
Fairweather then told Peccoo the traffic stop had been recorded by the patrol car's camera. He and Peccoo reviewed the six-minute video.
The video "showed all of her allegations to be false," said DePuyt. "During the traffic stop, the officer never yelled at Ms. Peccoo and never removed his firearm from its holster. During the incident, one traffic summons was issued for Ms. Peccoo failing to change the address on her driver's license."
DePuyt provided the traffic stop video to Suburban Trends. The video appears to show Peccoo running a stop sign and then being pulled over. The officer never yells or draws his firearm during the video.
DePuyt said the officer actually tried to cut Peccoo a break during the stop. He exercised his discretion and chose not to issue her with a failure to stop summons, which would entail points on her license. He only issued a ticket for failing to change her address.
"She still came in to falsely accuse him," said DePuyt.
Peccoo was charged with making a false report to law enforcement authorities, a disorderly persons offense. Her court appearance on the charge is pending, said DePuyt.

Stupid racist money-hungry woman. This is why a I supports police cameras. They will vindicate more officers than they will prosecute.
But, but, but ... black lives matter; the truth doesn’t.
Ditto. This is why every police officer that I know supports them as well.
In a case like this the woman should be given the max penalty allowed by law. Probably a bit less than a year.
#DinduLiesMatter
That’s why the police should also support police cameras! Most cops are good cops, and police cameras vindicate good cops all the time.
That said, bad cops often have convenient “camera malfunctions,” broken cameras, “missing” (i.e., erased) content, etc. That should create a presumption of malfeasance.
She should be criminally charged for knowingly making a false statement in an official proceedings. And then civilly sued for slander.
Well, first of all,
I couldn’t even see his face.
I couldn’t see his face.
He was holding a gun in his hand.
Umm, I was thinking
This is a dangerous place
This is a dangerous place
I said, “I’m nervous as hell from this stuff.
I thought those guys were going to kill me for sure.
They ganged up on me like that.
I couldn’t believe it.
Look, I’m still shakin’.
Weird.
There out in the streets like that.
It’s a dangerous place.
It’s a dangerous place.”
So, suddenly, these two guys appear in front of me.
They stopped.
Real aggressive.
Start at me, you know.
“What’s that?” “What’s that on that tape?”
What do you got there?”
I said, “huh?”
They said, “What are you talking into that for?”
I said, “It’s just a tape, you know”
“Well play it for me”
I said “oh, no”
I put it off as long as I could.
And finally they turned it on, you know
They grabbed it from me.
Took it away from me.
Turned it on.
And it said, “He held a gun in his hand. This is a dangerous place.”
They said, “What dangerous place?” “What gun?” “You’re a policeman!”
And the deeper I talked, the worse I got into it.
I talked, I told him, I said, “Look man, I’m not talkin’”
It went on forever.
Anyway, I finally unbuttoned my shirt, and said,
“look, look, I’m in this band, you know, I’m in this band you know,
and we’re makin’ a recording, you know.
It’s about New York City, it’s about crime in the streets.
“The explanation was going nowhere, but,
Finally, they just kinda let me go, I don’t know why.
So I walk around the corner,
and I’m like shakin’ like a leaf,
and I thought, “This is a dangerous place”
Who should appear, but two policeman.

It needs to be a felony with 5 years of jail time.
She got charged with filing a false report... a disorderly persons charge.
So after court she’ll probably be told ‘don’t do it again’.
Great tune by a great band.
She could have possibly ruined this man’s life.
He could have lost his job, possibly a job that he loves and is passionate about... unable to find another police officer job anywhere... his family’s wellbeing and livelihood could have been destroyed... lost their home... that could have happened so you darn right it should be a felony.
And another thing...
If this video had not existed, and this officer had been fired, unable to work for any other agency, causing financial hardship for him and his family, possibly losing there house and having to move... how would this lying piece of crap sleep at night knowing she ruined a good man and his family’s life by making up a lie. For what?
Just remeber - Black Lies Matter!
How much you want to be the Doctors who pay her to care for their mother is paying her cash because she is an illegal alien.
People like this have no problem sleeping. That is what makes them pieces of crap.
Enjoy your time in jail.
Hyacinth Peccoo?
What the Hell kind of name is that?
