The Left’s Illogical Logic of Diversity
National Review ^ | 28 Nov, 2015 | JONAH GOLDBERG

The winning streak enjoyed by campus activists this fall was violently interrupted by the recent terrorist attacks in Paris. Some activists were sufficiently annoyed by their ejection from the limelight that they took to Twitter to complain under the hashtag "F***Paris." The most obvious irony stemmed from the fact that some of the same protesters who griped about media coverage of their antics — even declaring First Amendment-free zones — suddenly whined when the cameras turned to bloodshed in the heart of Europe. But there's a deeper irony. In the aftermath of the Paris attacks, fueled by a cynical media strategy directed by the president himself, the national conversation turned quickly from Barack Obama’s foreign-policy failures to the bigotry and insensitivity of the Republican party.

What about an ideological diversity that includes individual liberty and freedom?

Have you tried that 10/22 yet?

I am taking my Mercedes in for repair tomorrow. Was driving between Denver and Co Springs and had semi trucks on 3 sides on I-25 at 6:00 a.m., pitch black, and something hit me. I think it was a tire tread that came off. It got kicked across and got into my driver side rear tire and thrown up in the wheel well. Damaged rear bumper, wheel well liner and exhaust shroud. It is just my long distance commuter car, but the only car with really good snow tires. I could buy about 15 10/22s for what the repair will cost. Barely above my deductable so not worth filing insurance claim.

Oh, you poor dear! But lucky it was just your "long-distance commuter car."

You know, your story is of such great general interest, it really deserves to be given a thread of its own - and not buried in the middle of a thread about Muslim terrorists!

Regards,

My Mercedes is a C300 4-matic. Bottom end Mercedes, but all wheel drive and good crash safety rating. Cost is a little more than a top end Honda Accord. My commute is currently 105 to 120 miles each way, depending on where I have to go. I knew it would be driven into the dirt on my current job. I should write about the animals I almost hit with it. No actual hits yet, but probably 5 mule deer, 1 elk, 1 antelope all within 6 ft of a hit. The elk was at night on a mountain road about 5 miles from being home and it tried to run, but tripped and fell in the middle of the road. I was all over the ABS and stopped just short. The elk was on its side in the road and trying to kick my car.

The Left doesn’t own compassion, but it owns the corrosive desire to destroy excellence and progress.
