CHICAGO - A Burger King manager who accuses Chicago police of erasing surveillance video in the case of a black teenager shot last year by a white officer says he has testified before a federal grand jury investigating the shooting.
It's not clear what that video might have shown, but the accusation of tampering has fueled the anger of protesters who say the city, the police and local prosecutors have mishandled the case. After months of refusals, the city released police squad car video of the shooting on Tuesday in response to a judge's order. But both the police chief and the Cook County state's attorney deny the Burger King video was altered.
The Burger King is just yards from where 17-year-old Laquan McDonald fell when the first few rounds struck him. It took just minutes for police to demand to see the restaurant's password-protected video, Darshane said.
"I was just trying to help the police with their investigation," Darshane said. "I didn't know they were going to delete it."
He said that when the officers left, almost two hours later, there was an 86-minute gap in the recording, including the time surrounding the shooting.

Considering that a large number of the officers who shoot these youts are black your narrative seems to have a few holes.

Since they didn’t release it, I’m assuming there was a gap. Also I heard the dash cam should have had sound, but the sound too mysteriously didn’t work.
Rahm Emmanuel held back on this until he was re-elected and ordered by a judge to release it.
The people of the area have a point here, but should have held a demonstration without blocking the stores where people are just trying to make a living.
Backups are essential. NEVER trust ANY government official or law enforcement agency.
And the cops who showed up first were five guys.
Not just white cops. Cops in general. And not just against black suspects. All suspects. What happens routinely in Brazil - a real-life, all-pervasive Magnum Force - could happen here.
If this is true, that cop is likely to walk when it goes to a jury. No one will believe the prosecution’s case if there is clear evidence of tampering.
Another one of our Techs got shot last month. The company announced a pause to installs in “high crime areas”. We got slammed as racists for not wanting our employees getting murdered.
This is the second one in the last year, btw.
