I think it's fascinating how they changed the rear loading dock on commercial airplanes soon after DB Cooper made his parachute escape.

Was that BECAUSE of DB Cooper?

I can't imagine one guy's brazen hijacking would make every plane be redesigned.

This was a one in a million case.

Well, it was a staircase, and as I recall, it was in fact eliminated, or sealed ... whatever ... in response to this incident.

Watch the Cronkite report and a reporter asks an FBI agent if Cooper could have jumped from the rear of the plane after it touched down. It was all the FBI agent could do not to say “Are you that stupid?” He stared at the guy a while and finally said “We had the airport covered.”

Tail cone exit stairs or slide were required on planes that did not have rear doors for evacuation because of engine placement
