Missouri State University Black Lives Matter activists are demanding that Abraham Lincoln's image be removed from all U.S. currency and public buildings, citing statements Lincoln made to Frederick Douglass that prove the sixteenth President's racism.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it were real.
What exactly prevents someone from creating a fake Twitter account and pretending to be black....and joining up with #blacklivesmatter to spread false stories and fake propaganda?
Satire has a way of being prophetic.
Lincoln should pay reparation too....after all he is a white Christian male...
BLM is racist
It is a perfectly normal reaction for people to be xenophobic, and the more obvious the difference, the more likely there will be some level of aversion. Birds of a feather and all that.
“Satire has a way of being prophetic.”
Satire has a way of giving ‘crazy’ people ideas, which is why true satire has fallen out of favor. Neither “A Modest Proposal” nor “Gulliver’s Travels,” had they just been written, would be published today.
I watched IT’S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD last week and felt something was missing.
Then I remembered.
I watched all of the ending where they all fall from the ladder, but I did not see the scene where Rochester falls, hits something and bounces into the arms of a statue of Lincoln. Was it cut out?
I wasn’t raised deifying Lincoln. My folks were all as far
as I know, Confederates. GGGrandfather fought at Shiloh;
said he didn’t really know for sure if he killed any Yankees
or not, but didn’t see how he could have helped it. Shiloh
was “the biggest mess he’d ever seen in his life”. My
parents took me to the Bloody Pond even when I was a small
child. It was darker with blood then, over 60 yrs. ago! It
has faded some in over a half century. - Daddy always
thought Lincoln could have avoided that war; but maybe not.
I just don’t view him as a hero; maybe a martyr for the
woman he was married to I guess. - I guess, too, this isn’t
a popular viewpoint on FR.
It’s a popular viewpoint among Southerners, not so popular among Northerners.
Although, some Northerners (such as myself, though I am an EX-Northerner) who believe in States Rights lean more your way.
I thought Lincoln was racist because he dissed the slaves by freeing them - like he was saying they weren’t smart enough to do it themselves. :)
Fang likes to claim he would have been a Yankee in the War
of Northern Aggression; but he just wants to always be on
the winning side. . or claim to be anyway. Ha! Some on FR
keep trying to fight that war all over. Heck; we have to
keep moving along. We have fought what my dad thought was
“the war to end all wars” when he had to go off & fight
the Germsns in WWII. - Now, this Muslim crap. I’m moving on
out of here not all that long from now. I hope our kids
will have the guts to stand and deliver & not fold in the
face of tyrants. Dam* cowards & bullies thinking they’re
gonna get 72 virgins if they blow us up!
First, let us impeach and convict the racist POtuS.
Was this actually at the Lincoln Univerity protest? I am trying to find our what was originally on her sigh... Lincoln IS racist? Meaning the umiversiry?
What did the original sign say... Does anyone know?
The joke is on the person who meant it to be satire.
“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.” Abraham Lincoln, September 18, 1858
