Yep, I’ve already decided on the Glock.

It’s big enough to still be shootable but small enough to still be carryable and shoot’s the 9mm instead of the .380. And the 7 rds. don’t bother me. Heck, until 30 years ago everyone, law enforcement included, made do with 6.

Mossberg 500,,
and several colors thereof.

As I’ve said, I always keep a shotgun or an AR in my vehicle. Mossberg is good. I keep an older 870 wingmaster slug gun mostly. The slug gun has an 18” barrel and is pretty easy to transport. Plus it’s got a little class too!

When I transport the AR I like to carry my Sabre defense. Don’t make them anymore. Google Sabre Defense. Pretty interesting story. Got mine right before Interpol arrested the owner.....

I have the 43. It’s on me in a Crossbreed holster every time I leave the house. I love it. Small, concealable, light, very thin. I hardly know I have it on, but it’s got that 9mm punch when you need it. 6+1, then sneakers after that.

The 3-day “delay” is counted as Monday through Friday federal government “work week” days not including holidays or the day the info was submitted to NICS. So, that’s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week with transfer, after ID verification and signing the recertification on the form, available beginning on Thursday. Often, the FFL will be notified earlier of a “proceed” from FBI/NICS and the FFL should call you to let you know. Some FFLs won’t transfer until a final decision is made per their own policies (which is legal). The sheer volume of sales and transfers occurring on Black Friday usually slow the system to a crawl.

My understanding is that in most states if you are not a CCW permit holder there’s a mandatory waiting period. May be Federal?

Not federal. Here in Virginia you fill out the forms, get the background check, pay, and walk out with the handgun.

I have only had one delay and that was at a gun show. The dealer was using an IPad to fill out and send in the background check and the darned thing used auto correct to misspell my last name. It took the dealer about a half hour before she found the problem.

I was wondering what was going wrong because I had just purchased another firearm only three days earlier and it took all of ten minutes for the entire process.

Hell - you're homepage explains a lot:

Small town Alabama born and proud of it. Never considered myself a Republican but conservative to the bone. Love God, Family, Country in that order.

What were you thinking????

My daughter was born in Italy and when I took her gun shopping, she was told there were some issue that might take a while - we waited about 30 minutes and then finalized the sale....Your problem could be because of Obama's efforts to slow things down - along with his being such a eager beaver salesman of guns. It all adds up to the perfect storm with a glut of applications and an understaffed vetting pool.

Hope you enjoy your Glock 43.

I opted for a Ruger .380 as my "pocket" gun because it's a tad smaller and the .380 round isn't as 'snappy' with a light weapon where a finger is left hanging under the grip with nothing to do.

That’s what I was hoping in buying the 43. Not planning on shooting it a whole lot. I see these videos that say “after 150 shots my hand hurts” or whatever. I will practice but dang!

Haven’t bought a holster yet. About decided on a Cardon, but they supposedly take anywhere from a mo. to 3 mo. to be delivered. I’ll check out the Crossbreed

I can't go forward, can't go back. This huge guy, big beard, big ole redneck, opens drivers side door, pulls a revolver, and braces on the open door and tells me "I'm gonna kill you you S.O.B." and then drops the gun. Hit's the pavement on the lot.

Did he drop the gun because you pulled down on him or because he was clumsy?

Just clumsy. Opened drivers door stepped out. He pulled the revolver and as he pointed it braced on the open window frame. That’s when he dropped it. That’s when I pulled my pistol. As he bent down to pick it up I hollered “Stop M.F’er.” When he looked up he turned white a sheet. Literally. As in all the blood drained out of his face.

Picked up the g43 yesterday. Ordered a Cardon IWB holster and applied for CCW permit today. “Check back with us in 12 days” she said.

Pretty much, and I knew this but I checked the laws, if you don’t have a CCW then a pistol is pretty much worthless unless you want to keep it at home.

I guess I’ll just have to wait. I wonder. Is that 12 “working days”? Does Thanksgiving count as a day? Heck, I’ll check back after Christmas. That ought to be long enough.

BTW. I’m not too sure about this Cardon guy. I sent an email a week ago asking for a little advice about holsters. Never got an answer. Sent him payment. Said I would get an email confirming my order. Nada. Apparently he is a one man operation. Beautiful work. We’ll see.
