Why Some Christians Are Upset at Starbucks’ New Holiday Cups

Some Christians have taken to social media channels to protest the new Starbucks holiday cup, which they say is conspicuously devoid of images of both Christmas and Jesus Christ himself. The new cup, which is shades of red with the Starbucks logo, showed up in stores late last month.

"Starbucks REMOVED CHRISTMAS from their cups because they hate Jesus," wrote Joshua Feuerstein in a viral Facebook post with nearly 10 million views. In an accompanying video, Feuerstein encourages customers to give their name as "Merry Christmas" to force Starbucks employees to say the phrase. The movement had caught on by Sunday with the hashtag "MerryChristmasStarbucks" trending on Facebook.

Is this that newfangled 'religious liberty?'
Religious freedom is being free to practice your religion.
Religious liberty means others have to practice it, too?

First, why does anyone go to star*ucks? Second considering the corporate leanings of star*ucks why in Gods name would anyone that is an actual Christian and not just a CINO contribute anything to star*ucks profits? I mean hell, you can buy burned crappy coffee anywhere, why by it where the CEO has told Christians to go *uck themselves?

This is the stuff that the left feeds on when it comes to Christianity.

We’re free to spend our money anywhere we see fit for any reason. McDonalds coffee is head and shoulders above SB swill any day of the week, for a fraction of the price.

Starbucks coffee tastes like stagnant mud. For the life of me why would any American patronize a gaggle of libtard jackasses!

I suppose I could boycott, but I have never liked Starbucks coffee. It's way overpriced and mediocre at best.

I had a cup at an airport a few years ago. I don't recall, but may have tossed it without finishing it.

Ergo, my part in the boycott won't be noticed.

Christians could tank Starbuck’s stock by vocally withholding their business. But Christians aren’t really serious about much of anything.

Your are the first person besides me and my wife to put that down in writing. I can get a senior collie at McDonalds for a lot less than coffee at Starbucks. Add a hot apple pie for about the cost of a coffee at Heathensville.

You think we should boycott Starbucks over using red cups. No. I don’t go very often but their frappiccinos are outstanding.

I happen to like Starbucks; I go there every morning. I am singularly un-offended by the red cups. I guess that makes me a bad Christian?

I agree. Why spend $4 at Star(too many) bucks when I can make my own ultimate cup of coffee for 45 cents a cup (ground community coffee, half and half, stevia, and ultra-dark cocoa)

Private company. They can do what they want.

And hitching about the cup that holds your $5 cup of coffee? They should be ashamed.

This is stupid area to expend one’s limited energies in.

Drink the damn coffee if you like it, and don’t if you don’t. We got bigger battles to fight.

I’ve managed to get through life having never set foot in a Starbucks. Nothing against them; I’m just too cheap to pay that much for coffee.

The things that American Christians will get animated over never ceases to amaze me. Fellow Christians getting their heads chopped off in the Middle East? Crickets. Perceived holiday slight from Chargebucks? Viral within hours.

I’d sooner fork over my money to an ISIS recruiting center than spend a single dime at a Starbucks. POS left-wing company that promoted and helped fund the push for fag-marriage. They epitomize the very type of people that helped contribute to turning this country into the depraved cesspool it has become. They can go burn in hell.

Let's see. "Some Christians" troll their little hearts out looking to give Starbucks some publicity.

Will Christians take the bait?
