Beer Guinness changes recipe to go vegan

Guinness is going vegan.

Starting in 2016, the Irish beer will be fully vegan friendly for the first time since they started brewing beer 256 years ago, reports The Independent.

Guinness, like many other brewers, use isinglass, a by-product of the fishing industry that's used to clarify the beer and make yeast settle faster. While most of the agent is filtered out during the brewing process, there are still traces of fish bladders in the finished product. Vegan customers have long been petitioning the brand to discontinue its use of isinglass.

One was on change.org, filed by Tom Jones from Manchester who collected 1,715 signatures asking the brand to make the beer vegan-friendly.

I refuse to drink any beer which does not contain traces of fish bladders!

When I first saw the headline, I wondered “how can they even think of changing Guinness?” Then I thought “beer bladders?”

Guinness is clarified?

I'd hate to see how opaque it is naturally.

What is the vegan population? 3% maybe? Well , higher in the city and even higher for people that drink guiness to start with... so lets say 6%.

Yeah, change a 250 year old process and revamp an entire production line to cater to 6% of the market.

I’m not sure tinkering with ANY aspect of an ancient formula is going to work.

there are some serious Guinness experts out there. if it changes at all, they are going to go ape s$%*#.

this is pretty risky.

I’ll bet those fish bladders do more than they think they do. you start tinkering with perfection, it’s only going to make it worse.....

Like McDonalds, these idiots are listening to people that don’t buy their products, would make a 0.01% change if they did, and will destroy their brand while doing so.

Idiots.

I won’t know the difference since I quit drinking Guinness and Sam Adams for pushing the Gay crap at the Saint Paddy’s Day parades.

“Yeah, change a 250 year old process and revamp an entire production line to cater to 6% of the market.”

They will lose a bigger market share once people find out the taste is different. But hey, the 6% of vegans who might enjoy a Guinness will be happy.

Changing a 256-year-old recipe.
What could go wrong?
Sounds like the “New Coke” fiasco.

Take something that has been successful for well over 200 years to appease a small population, likely leading to chaos and failure. Sounds like an Obama policy.

Beer Guinness changes recipe to go vegan

Guinness has already gone faggot, and the Canadian produced Guinness sucks.

I advise people to avoid Guinness until they fix their current Head up their @$$ problem.
