According to Wikipedia (which we're not supposed to link to), just two days ago the death of Willis Carto (yimach shemo vezikhro!) was announced. A day the wicked die is a good day!
Carto was the malignant center of the anti-Semitic web in the United States for some sixty years or so. Every anti-Semite in this country was linked to him in some way or another. He was also a disciple of the late, unlamented Francis Parker Yockey (y'sh"v!), an anti-Semite so vile that he advocated support for the Communist bloc as early as the 50s. Yockey also wrote the book Imperium, a sort of "holy text" for anti-Semitism.
Carto started out (of course) as a member of the John Birch Society (the "blue lodge" of the anti-Semitic movement). In 1955 he founded the so-called "Liberty Lobby" and later its paper the Spotlight. When they went out of business he founded the Institute for Historical Review (whose reason for existence was to deny that the Holocaust had ever happened) and American Free Press. In 1968 he founded Youth for [George] Wallace which after the election became the National Youth Alliance, a sort of Nazi SDS on college campuses. And he was also the power behind The American M*c*ry (an out-and-out national socialist magazine) at the time of its well-earned demise.
I thought the old buzzard would never croak.
I consider myself pretty well informed, and I’ve never heard of the guy. His name means nothing to me.
Same here.
Wiki doesn’t waste any time labeling him “far right”
I didn’t know Birchers were/are anti-Semite.
I have never heard of him and I read a lot, too.
Did you ever read the Spotlight???? It was just a nasty rag all around
I think they were. That's one of the reasons that William F. Buckley separated his magazine from them in its early days.
Consider yourself fortunate.
I've never seen it, or read it.
And I used to read a lot of weird stuff back in the day, with my hobby of perusing counterculture bookstores in New York and Philadelphia.
Who?
There is no figure in usa history that is more responsible for neo nazism and holocaust denial then that man,
Watchoo talking about, Willis? Maybe.
Well, now you know. And I was once a member, so I know what I'm talking about.
The JBS isn't "officially" anti-Semitic, but they pull conservatives into a worldview that is anti-Israel and expose them to classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and Nazi materials (like Nesta Webster and Prince Michel Sturdza).
Their hero is Ron Paul and they are extremely anti-Israel.
he was basically the money guy behind antisemitic and holocaust denial groups in usa
carto funded the Institute for Historical Review the most “respected” and most powerful holocaust denial group in the world
But I never heard of Willis Carto.
All I can say is Gud!
Carto was never a person for publicity , he was a behind the scene person who inherited tens of millions dollars from his parents and used it all to prop up holocaust denial groups
Duh.
The terms "left" and "right" originated in France and do not mean what most American conservatives think they do. The "right" in France (the original right) was collectivistic and statist--only royalist and traditionalist rather than revolutionary and pro-decadence.
It was a mineteenth century French right winger who said "the invividual is nothing; society is everything."
American conservative hero Frederic Bastiat was considered a leftist in nineteenth century France.
Also consider that Carto supported George Wallace, George Hansen, Sam Ervin, and many conservative politicians, and too many conservative politicians accepted that support.
The idea that the left comprises all socialists and the right is 100% anti-socialist is a bit of propaganda by the John Birch Society too fool decent conservatives.
