Hilarious. Not as funny as the ‘argument” that Daniel was the real instigator & bad guy in Karate Kid. ;)

But, do we know what Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda thought about homosexual marriage or global warming, income inequality, carbon footprints, equality for women in combat, etc????

Many years ago, I read somewhere that if the whole premise of the Empire and the Rebellion were to apply to real life, intelligent people would root for the Empire.
They defended trade routes with their massive military presence. They maintained order. They got things done quickly.
The Rebellion’s destruction of such a successful organization would have plunged the galaxy into chaos and anarchy.

The Jedi are weak and must be ruthlessly crushed to the last sanctimonious bug-squish.

The original Star Wars was a fun pastiche of themes and ideas inspired by the movie house serials of the 1930s that had entranced the young George Lucas. From that thin beginning was contrived a larger storyline that in the ensuing movies made the Jedi into something like Move On activists with light sabers in defense of an idealized multi-ethnic galactic Republic.
As more fully explained, the evil Empire then came to look like something Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore might have thought up over a weekend of heavy bong hits. I suspect that we had but a narrow escape from seeing the Emperor made to look and sound like Ronald Reagan.

It’s a false dichotomy. The Empire/Sith aren’t good guys, by any stretch of the imagination. But neither are the Jedi - elitist and arrogant to the point of near corruption, while simultaneously being blind to the one thing they should have been good at detecting and defeating.
