Monday on his radio show, Limbaugh argued that Cruz is positioned ideally and if something happens to Trump, Were not shut out here.
Limbaugh praised Cruz, We still have someone in our roster that opposes every bit of the Democrat agenda, perhaps more than anybody else in the race and thats Cruz. I mean Cruz does not have in his record any statement like Trump does of having supported certain things the Democrats have done. Cruz is inarguably thoroughbred conservative.
Rush Limbaugh: I think that there is a dark horse in this entire thing, and I think there is one candidate who is positioned here. Now I know that its getting late, Trump has had the lead for 100 days here or more. Well hes been in the lead ever since hes got in. And there now fewer days until Iowa that he has been in the lead. I mean he is over the hump in that regard. but there is still a long way to go, it is politics. Any number of unforeseen, unpredictable events are potentially out there. And there has been somebody trucking along here steady-eddy that has continued to be who he is and continues to lay down foundational markers for himself and thats Ted Cruz. And I think Ted Cruz is, is positioned, I would say ideally.
I mean, Im sure, Cruz would love to be in the top two, top three here but of all the others in the race, you take Trump and Carson here and theyre at number one and number two. Carson has pulled ahead of Trump even in Iowa now in two polls. But overall Trump leads and his lead continues to expand but what if it doesnt? What if something happens? Were not shut out here. We still have someone in our roster that opposes every bit of the Democrat agenda, perhaps more than anybody else in the race and thats Cruz.

I support Trump right now, but if he falters, I hope Cruz can step his game up to pick up the torch and run with it.
Ping.
Ted Cruz is my first choice, but I am afraid that republicans plan to push through amnesty and fully fund it before Boehner leaves office, so that Cruz will not be able to stop them.
Cruz is by far the best candidate.
By far!
Could not agree more. When we finally have a conservative who is in the race, (as apposed to wishing they would run) why would we go anywhere else?
I’ve always liked Ted Cruz, but I’m thinking that a lot of people will assume he doesn’t have the same chance of winning the presidency as Trump. It appears Trump may be able to bring over some Democrats. Hope I’m wrong, because Cruz has a spine of steel.
I believe that is the plan with the Ryan Speakership. Even his Chief of Staff is an open borders advocate.
They want to ram through amnesty and take it off the table as an issue in 2016.
I’m all in for Cruz, but I think the public sees Trump bringing in Dems and Cruz as being an inside-the-beltway candidate. He is but he’s disliked by both sides there, which means he’s doing something right (standing on conservative principles). An insider who’s an outsider.
I’m a Cruz supporter, but not a Trump hater, like certain FReepers insist all Cruz supports are. Once Walker went wobbly on amnesty, Trump became my backup candidate. And as a Cruzer it’s with a tinge of sadness that I have to admit that I don’t see The Donald faltering any time soon. He stole a lot of my guy’s thunder and has moved the ball downfield in a way that a normal, politicians-as-usual election would have.
Rush has not been shy about his confidence in Cruz or in highlighting Cruz’s genuine commitment to conservatism.
Ted Cruz is The Conservative in the race.
No doubt, because they’re all so much smarter than Rush. Just ask them.
I think it’s bad karma to say “I support Trump right now, but if he falters, I hope Cruz can step his game up to pick up the torch and run with it.”
Let’s make sure Trump doesn’t falter or we’re screwed, period. Cruz doesn’t stand a chance in the race so it’s irrelevant how conservative he is. That and I’ve seen him side with the left a couple of times too many. One hope, Trump. After that it’s Hillary.
I stopped listening to Rush when he went up Walkers butt.
Because he can't win. Also, for whatever reasons (and I hope not donors) he supported TPA & fast track. Oops doesn't cut it for me.

Trump will use Executive Orders to put it back on.
