Ok, of those FReepers who listen to at least some Rock & Roll, what is your favorite patriotic Rock and Roll song? There are obvious Country Rock tunes, but of plain ol' rock, my fave, and, golly, does it ever seem to apply in 2015, is Suite Madame Blue, by Styx.

Sometimes when Dennis DeYoung gets to that line "Heaven's door" and the subsequent "cry", I begin to tear up...

(With lyrics, but missing "Prelude 12")

Anyway, please suggest away, and let's keep it FRiendly & no snarky comments. :-)

one in a million by Guns N Roses. Certainly can’t print the lyrics here but makes some really good points.

We’re an American Band - Grand Funk Railroad.

I’ve never analyzed the lyrics that much (yes, I know there is references to a groupie), but it still sounds like a patriotic song to me.

Toby Keith! Yeah ... that’s my favorite ... just as much today as in 2001.

Ah, good one!

Not only a good choice but a great band whom I saw many times in concert back in the day.

If you are a GnR fan, it is worth reading Slash and Steven Adlers books.

Toby’s “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue” is one of the best.

STYX: “Suite Madame Blue”

Time after time
I sit and I wait for your call
I know I’m a fool but what can I say
Whatever the price I’ll pay for you, Madame Blue

Once long ago, a word from your lips and the world turned around
But somehow you’ve changed, you’re so far away
I long for the past and dream of the days with you, Madame Blue

Suite Madame Blue, gaze in your looking glass
You’re not a child anymore
Suite Madame Blue, the future is all but past
Dressed in your jewels, you made your own rules
You conquered the world and more ..............heaven’s door

America....America...America..America..
America....America...America..America..
America....America...America..America..

Red white and blue, gaze in your looking glass
You’re not a child anymore
Red, white, and blue, the future is all but past
So lift up your heart, make a new start
And lead us away from here

(Dennis DeYoung)

In 1984, Born in the USA was released by Comrade Bruce Ilych Springsteen. Living in 'lake country' in Eastern Ontario at the time, I met many American vacationers, both when they were visiting E. ON., and when I travelled to Upper NYS. Alexandria Bay, NY, more specifically.

I was amazed at how many young Americans, around my age, absolutely LOVED that song! While it had a good beat, the words were ANYTHING BUT patriotic, yet they still loved it! It is little wonder that America is in the mess its in! None of these idiots even listened to the words! And things have gotten even worse.
