Eric Hosmer's eighth-inning single scored Lorenzo Cain from first to break a 3-3 tie, then closer Wade Davis slammed the door in the ninth as K.C. beat Toronto to earn a repeat trip to the World Series.
Good player Brett was but a total jerk as a person.
I prefer Saberhagen.
uh, he always came up in crucial situation against my Yanks, and he always got a hit. I love him NOW.
Remember Al Hrabosky, the Mad Hungarian? And I’ve got a mental block on the name of another Royal: sportscasters called him the Penguin because of the way he ran bases.
That was Billy Martin. I was watching that game at the time, It was great!
OK. I understand now.
Yes, the Adventure of the Pine Tar Bat.
Yep that’s our boys of October in KC!
Fred something? SS? He took itty bitty steps.
Freddie Patek?
Ron Cey. Wrong team, the Cubs.
Nice guys of character from Gen. Manager, Dayton Moore, on down.
They, in turn, not only pick quality players but men with character and steer clear of the prima donnas like the one Blue Jay who trashed our locker room because he didn't like the umps call, in the ninth inning.
BTW, when the B.Jays played here before heading up to Toronto, their visiting fans lobbed full cans of beer down at the guys heading in and out of the Royals players heading in and out of our doug out, so Toronto decided no sales of beer in cans - only plastic cups!
Real quality Toronto fans! And I used to believe Canadians were so nice and polite!
I may have thought Fred Patek because he wasn’t a great big guy either? Great fielder.
Lots of the former players still make KC their hometown!
Might that be Fred Patek?
GO ROYALS!!!!!!!
If folks could have seen the Royals day in and day out the past 2 years, I can’t see how they would not think this is a good TEAM of players. I think it is partly because they have been together for 4 or 5 years. Gordon, Hosmer, Perez, Cain, Escobar. Teams just don’t keep all their guys together because of free agency. Most of these were real young when they started. Anyway, we are enjoying these moments immensely.
Mets fan here, too.
2 bad calls favored royals. Fan interference on the Royals HR ball and the strike call on the Blue Jays in the 9th. That was clearly a ball.
Go Mets!
