The only Mexican authorities "closing in" on Guzman are the bag-men coming to collect their bribes.

No one in Mexico is expending the least bit of effort to find Guzman. This is baloney.
The only time the Federales "close in" on Guzman is when their bribes are late or they need to rescue his ass from the DEA. Then they send him to "jail" long enough for us to fire up our worthless diplomats and their reproachful letter writing campaigns.
Money=power, especially there. Locals have their own agendae, from South Chicago to Afghanistan. Money talks, bullsh*t walks, and people only stay bought where they live.

read a headline about el chapo captured with injured leg and I pictured that weird hairless dog that they only find dead but this time caught one alive...LOL guess I never will be good with names.
Did not read the article, as I do not believe anything that corrupt Mexican government says.
If he really did suffer any injuries it was probably collateral damage sustained while two groups of Mexican cops were fighting each other over who got Shorty’s bribe.
