I’ve got to admit that I didn’t think much of the Star Trek prequel when I heard about it. I never really liked any of the ST spin offs (Next Generation, etc.) and didn’t think I’d like these movies either. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. I ended up enjoying both movies tremendously. I think the really nailed it with the cast. All of them perfectly recreate the original ST characters in their early years and the chemistry between them was great. Chris Pine just nails Shatner’s Kirk as a young man. Really good series. I’ll be waiting for this one.

The Wrath of Khan was still the best one.

I’m just curious, how do creatures without hands
tie their shoes, button their clothes??
Why are they always humanoid?
Are there no alien actors?

100% agree with you on the cast having been perfectly picked, in every way they mach their more mature counterparts.

Complete disagree with you on the spin offs! You can possible be a true conservative and not like DS9!

There is an episode of TNG that explains why the aliens are so humanoid. The best aliens in a TV series has to go to Babylon 5, IMO.

Spare me. All my friends keep saying the same thing.

I agree. I don’t like the new Star Trek movies.

“Why are they always humanoid?”

That was actually answered in a ST: The Next Generation episode. Details escape me, but I’m sure some FReeper remembers it.

"The Wrath of Khan was still the best one."

No doubt. I've seen it a zillion times and I'd still rather watch it again than any of the Star Wars movies. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one."

I really enjoyed the reboot, and the new Kirk and Spock have tremendous chemistry. Only recently did I watch the latest Star Trek movie and was kicking myself for waiting so long. Very suspenseful.

Both a new STAR TREK and JAMES BOND [the beginning of SPECTRE] are coming out this summer. Life is good.

I don't care for the new Uhuru. She's the total opposite of the original Uhuru. Every other character I like.

I suppose I’m the only FReeper who enjoys Star Trek Continues MUCH more than the overproduced, sfx heavy new ST movies.

FWIW, Haven’t watched the latest episode, looks like Kirk and Spock are transported back to the US Civil War. Oh well...
