Quarterback Will Grier helped lead Florida to a 6-0 start this season.
Florida's undefeated run through the first half of the college football season will be a lot more difficult to match in the second half, as redshirt freshman quarterback Will Grier has been suspended.
Florida coach Jim McElwain confirmed the suspension Monday, saying Grier failed an NCAA test for banned substances, and that the school will appeal the NCAA decision. Grier will practice with the team during the suspension, per McElwain. Grier addressed the media Monday, saying he took an over-the-counter supplement that had "something" in it and that he did not check with the team's medical staff before taking it.

Next man up!
On top of that, Spurrier retires.
Players are told, Day One, do not take anything without checking with the trainer first.
I find it interesting that hey do not state what the supplement was, or what banned substance it contained.
Will he now have to *gasp* go to class?
You mean the banned did not play on?
Agreed, but I have a problem with a plaster being suspended for taking an over-the-counter supplement.
*player.
Heh.
Fairly common to be banned for OTC products. Olympic athletes have been banned for taking Sudafed or similar cold medicines. Some reporting Grier gained over 40 pounds in a year, but that may not be true. What is certain is that folks have dug up old tweets from Grier’s father talking about how much weight Grier had gained.
FWIW, I saw one post on a sports bulletin board dated 9/27 that said Grier had failed a drug test. Seemed like just more internet rumors, but looks like someone knew something way back then.
On some of the SEC forums they were suggesting it was a steroid supplement. I had read that he gained 40 pounds in one year.... that is a lot of working out!
As others have suggested - don’t take it unless the trainers clear it first.
lol! Same thing I was thinking.
Wow.... Quite the gay looking picture posted with the article...
That doesn't make it right. What if the IOC banned M&Ms? I agree that he violated the rules, I disagree with the rule. Why not ban lasik surgery, contacts or weight lifting? All those enhance performance.
same here!
