It's no secret Republican presidential candidate and businessman Donald Trump has got a lot of cash. "I'm really rich," Trump told the crowd when he announced his run for president.
The question is, how rich?
Over the past year, users searched for Trump on Google more often than any other 2016 presidential candidate. One of the questions most frequently asked about the candidate was, "How much is Donald Trump worth?"
The answer might surprise you. Watch our video explainer to find out what it is.
Alongside his successes, the 69-year-old real estate tycoon has experienced a handful of failures. But on the campaign trail, Trump is counting on voters to overlook his bankruptcies and see him as the key to eliminating the country's mounting debt.
"What I am far and away greater than an entertainer is a businessman, and that's the kind of mindset this country needs to bring it back," the candidate said at the most recent Republican presidential debate.
"...what I want to do is put that ability into this country to make our country rich again. And I can do that, and I'm not sure that anybody else in the group will be able to do that."

“How rich is Donald Trump?”
“He’s so rich..........”
I miss Johnny Carson.
Wanna bet he’s richer than the dimbulb that wrote this article?
Who cares how rich he is? Sure, he’s had some failures, but who in business hasn’t? So what? He pulled himself out of the red a long time ago. People are just too danged nosy.
No doubt about that.
Trump has the country's best CPAs doing his tax returns.
I don't think the IRS has a CLUE as to how much money Trump has and I bet Trump knows TO THE PENNY how much he has.
Just a guess on my part.
He shouldn't be compared with anyone else.
Yes, he's really rich...both in a monetary way and a family way.
Rich enough not to have to take thinly-disguised bribes from corporate and one-worlder types, and to not give a rat’s ass what anyone thinks of him, THAT’S how rich.
Other than that, who cares?
"The Millionaire Mind" book showed that millionaires disproportionately spend time with their financial portfolios.
Why didn’t Ms. Sarah Parnass do a background check on then-candidate Obama? If she ever did it (and not a fawning barf piece), I must have missed it completely.
“Sure, hes had some failures, but who in business hasnt?”
You better believe it. I’m running 30% failures, 50% meh and 20% success covering about ten business startups. And I think that is a pretty common percentage for serial entrepreneurs. Gotta kiss some frogs.
You walked right into that one. A: HE does....talks about it all the time, and not only that, talks about it as if it were proof he can turn the entire economy around. Therefore, it's a campaign talking point HE injected...and B: YOU DO. I'm sure you have used that same line here on FR to make your point.
...he’s been on both sides of the bribe train.
2nd reply .... we’re goooooood !
I sort of thought he was talking about his wealth because Romney was embarrassed by his - so he was contrasting. He also wants people to know he is self-funding so I think that is part of why he says this. No, I don’t care - and I honestly don’t - regardless of what you think. To my knowledge, I don’t think I have mentioned his wealth before - I really don’t CARE!
Simple answer....richer than me....Good for him
MONEY is their being, life, love and god. That's not new, is it?
Well I agree with you on the Romney lesson....Romney did that all wrong. And I’ll take your word for it you don’t care about his wealth - but to answer your specific question, which was why does it matter? It matters because the candidate and many of his followers have offered his wealth as proof of his abilities.
Therefore, it matters intensely.
I understand your point. Becoming wealthy by legal means and hard work is admirable. If the money is earned by illegal means then that doesn’t equate to ability other than being a con artist or crook.
Lol - No one really cares. Unless he decides to give me some of his money I don’t really care. =)
According to Forbes he has 4.5 billion.
If he gave everyone in the US an equal share we would get $4,500,000,000/325,782,959 = $13.81
Lol
