Jennifer Hudson, Gloria Estefan, Harry Connick Jr. and other entertainers performed for a jubilant crowd Friday, Sept. 25, at a concert to welcome Pope Francis on his first visit to the U.S. and celebrate his message of faith and goodwill.
The event, called "A Journey in Faith," stretched for two hours at Madison Square Garden with performers standing on a white elevated stage that would soon transform into the altar from which the pope would celebrate Mass.
Hudson, the Academy Award and Grammy Award-winning singer, sang "Hallelujah" backed by an orchestra, and drew roars from the crowd. Estafan sang "Mas Alla," Connick sang "How Great Thou Art" and several Broadway actors performed in the 20,000-seat arena. The audience included dignitaries, members of religious orders and everyday Catholics who won tickets through their local parishes.
Actor Martin Sheen hosted the ceremony, produced by the Archdiocese of New York and featuring an opening performance by a Catholic choir from the Church of St. Charles Borromeo in Harlem. Clad in white robes, they stood on the stage decorated with white flowers and set under a giant crucifix suspended from the arena ceiling.

Stephen Colbert made a video appearance, welcoming to the arena "Catholics and the non-Catholics who arrived really early for a Knicks game." He apologized for not being at the Mass in person, but said he had promised CBS that he would "do (his) new talk show every night."
Additionally, a bishop took the stage and gave a brief history of the papacy including a roll call of pope names, noting there had been "23 Johns, 12 Piuses, six Pauls, 14 Clements, but one Peter and one Francis," which drew loud cheers.

Origins: In May 2015, the fake news web site National Report published an article reporting that Pope Francis had said in an address to followers that the Quran, the central religious text of Islam, was “just as valid as the Holy Bible”:
On Monday the Bishop Of Rome addressed Catholic followers regarding the dire importance of exhibiting religious tolerance. During his hour-long speech, a smiling Pope Francis was quoted telling the Vatican’s guests that the Koran, and the spiritual teachings contained therein, are just as valid as the Holy Bible.
“Jesus Christ, Jehovah, Allah. These are all names employed to describe an entity that is distinctly the same across the world. For centuries, blood has been needlessly shed because of the desire to segregate our faiths. This, however, should be the very concept which unites us as people, as nations, and as a world bound by faith. Together, we can bring about an unprecedented age of peace, all we need to achieve such a state is respect each others beliefs, for we are all children of God regardless of the name we choose to address him by. We can accomplish miraculous things in the world by merging our faiths, and the time for such a movement is now. The above-quoted story was repurposed on 23 September 2015 by the Civic Tribune, which embellished the fakery by adding the claim that the Pope’s comment had been made at the White House during his September 2015 visit to the United States. The Civic Tribune’s article was a word-for-word copy of the National Report’s article with the exception of the first paragraph:
On Wednesday the Bishop Of Rome addressed 11,000 ticketed guests on the South Lawn of the White House, during which he pontificated on the dire importance of exhibiting religious tolerance. During his hour-long speech, a smiling Pope Francis was quoted telling the White House guests that the Koran, and the spiritual teachings contained therein, are just as valid as the Holy Bible, and should therefore be respected as such.
While the Civic Tribune claims that it is “dedicated to the truth,” the majority of the site’s content is pilfered without credit from other fake news sites.

Why Hallelujah? The pope isn’t even Christian.
And is anti-Jew.
It was a wonderful time to see the Pope. Think that his days in the United States and the time the networks covered him was splendid. Thought that the coverage really was great time for people to feel the kindness and love that the Pope had for all. Plus, we didn’t have all the trash on Fox or CNN that we usually get.
I ended the day feeling better about everything watching the Pope coverage.
Did he say the crucifixion was a failure?
He has been a rude guest in our country. He is not Christian.
He needs to pack up his pope crap and go home.

Now the Pope’s trash is a different story. If you believe his trash, you’ll end up in Hell.
Gathering Hollywood into the fray I see.....not surprising...so many of them have lost their public they’re resorting to anything to obtain some degree of face time....
But then they do keep the doe rolling in...
