A person who is not working has an income of zero. 93,000,000 Americans of working age have no earned income.

Except they don’t. Nice try. The US was built on tariffs unless you forgot your history pre 1915.

De industrialization has cost America far more than the sugar rush of 5 % cheaper product. Lost taxes, a de-skilled workforce, more government social programs, and underemployment.

Nope. Tariffs held us back for 100 years. We were a 2nd rate power until the twentieth century. Or did you forget your history? What kept us going in spite of bad protective tariff policies was the fact that internally we were the worlds largest free trade zone.

We produce more manufactured goods now than at any time in our history. It just doesn't take as much labor.

Taxation is the removal of capital from productive use and the reemployment of it for political use. So any taxes the government misses out on is a good thing. In practice though, the ability to print money means they always have unlimited taxes, so I really don't know what lost taxes you're referring to. When in your life can you remember the government saying they would do a certain thing if only they had the money?

Unemployment and the loss of skilled workers comes mainly from the minimum wage law which prevents unskilled workers from getting entry level jobs. If they never start down the path to a skilled job, they will never become competition for a union job.
