Looking forward to this. I thought this series finally got going last week -I was almost ready to write it off.

While it's been kinda boring so far, I think it's unfair to compare it to the actual TWD. Two different lifestyles between the two series and I think FTWD kinda captures the California mindset of people caught up in a zombiepolcalypse who don't know it yet.....

I'm not going to criticize the character plot anymore and just wait and see how it plays out...........

Yes, it was inevitable that FTWD was going to be compared to TWD, but really, TWD is that rare show in which everything came together almost perfectly. I don’t think it would be possible to do that the second time around. So for us, FTWD is just a fun show to pass the time until TWD comes back.

2nd your thanks to CJ.

Good analysis. There are unrealistic expectations being a spinoff of a number one show.......it's not the same story. Not yet anyway.....😄

The creators admitted that we, the audience, would know more than the characters.

That may be why the early episodes were so exasperating.

Last week, for example, the hubby says, “You know how I feel about guns.” I made the comment that, by the start of season 2, he will glady be toting all the weaponry he can carry.

In a way it is sad to watch these Liberals coming face-to-face to a reality they could never have imagined, because we know they are unprepared for what they will be facing in the coming episodes.

Recall that the WD group were well into season 2 before they came to terms with their new world, and they are still having to make adjustments each new season.

The old man seems to be the only one who has an inkling of the reality they may be facing.

Agree, FTWD picked up enough last week to warrant watching again tonight.

Other than the time they were looking for the son and he was at the protest, the characters don’t have the presence of mind to turn on a TV, radio, smart phone, or computer to try to find out what is happening. In a real zombie apocalypse all social media would be melting down with millions of posts.

Personally still would not mind them all dying. Then we could spend the rest of the series following how they join up with other walkers and form herds. See where they wind up roaming to.

Really...I thought it was about a bad acid trips and a poor remake of a Buddy Holly song by the Grateful Dead!

Maybe the show’s premise for TWD fans is having a whole host of characters you want to see eaten.

There’s also the fact that conversations inside a house and family conflict in front of one zombie are CHEAPER scenes to shoot.
The budget constraints are why Hershel’s farm season had so many petty arguments over laundry and safety of kids.

Good analysis.

I’d much prefer the TWD lifestyle to the California way.

Seeing FTWD makes me grateful not to live in California.

22 days to go and its The Walking Dead!

I saw an interesting comment at spoilthedead.com.

Someone opined that Nick might be the only one on this show who might end up improving himself in unexpected ways, which would not have happened without the ZA...much like Daryl became a better person on TWD.

Nick’s going to have to get clean now...but without the ZA, he probably would have continued on as a junkie until he OD’d.

While going through his withdrawal, Nick seems more focused than the others.

He really does. Focus is a good way to put it.

In a real zombie apocalypse all social media would be melting down with millions of posts.

I understand what you are saying..........

I don't know how long you have been a fan of TWD but way back in the beginning it was explained by the writers that "Zombies" were never a part of the vernacular and thus the survivors never knew how to deal with them other than from experience.........

So the same philosophy applies here, lots of dying creepy people and the authorities trying to keep this mysterious disease under control...........

And to be realistic, without realizing the consequences of this virus that is spreading like wild fire, you just don't go around shooting people in the head who look "sick"...even tho you and I in the viewing audience know they are going to be zombies.

What would be the purpose in that?
