A new video appears to show Russian soldiers in Syria

Published September 13th, 2015 - 10:00 GMT via SyndiGate.info

Reports of Russia's military presence have concerned leaders around the world, and on Saturday media said two Russian planes carrying aid landed in Latakia.

It took a while for Russian leaders to acknowledge reports the country is helping Syria beyond funding and humanitarian aid, but leaders confirmed Wednesday there are Russian advisers in the war-torn country after witnesses in Syria saw Russian ground troops.

A new video uploaded on YouTube appears to show the Russian soldiers in Syria.

US officials said they believed about 200 Russian naval infantrymen are stationed in Syria's coastal city of Latakia, the same regime stronghold that received Russian aid Saturday.

What seems to be certain is that Russian aid landed in Latakia safely, supporting the Syrian government. Here are photos of the plane that circulated on Twitter.

Unlike the United States, Russia will protect the Christians.

It’s a move to let the Obama administration know, Bashar al-Assad isn’t going to be thrown out or replaced.

Syria once was Russia’s close “ally,” but now she shrank in size and became Russia’s protectorate, a country which cannot survive without sizable presence of Russian military.

How is it that soldiers crouching behind cement barriers are engaged in an active firefight while the cameraman appears to be walking around taking videos?

Allies for over 50 years? During WWII yes, but; I recall the early 50’s and the cold war and Sputnik very well.

One of the few peaceful things our Nobel Peace Prize winner hasn’t accomplished is getting us in a shooting war against the Russians. Maybe Obama can get us in a war on Russia over Syria. Obama has started or intensified civil wars all over the mid-east and north Africa, strengthening the jihadists. Now waves of Muslims are invading Europe. Obama turned Egypt over to the jihadists but enough Egyptians fought back and retook their country. He mase sure Iraq was defenseless against ISIS. He made a deal to give Iran money for terrorism and allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. These all are breathtaking accomplishments that the most imaginative mad man could not have dreamed of ten years ago, and now this is reality. I can’t help but think that getting the U.S. in a war against Russia would be the crowning achievement of the Obama administration. After all, Russia is this big old Christian country and Obama proudly says that the U.S. is the world’s biggest Muslim country - folks, Obama really believes America is the world’s biggist Muslim country and he is our prophet and fearless leader. Everything Obama has done makes perfect if sinister sense when viewed this way.

Yeah, that one looks like some kind of demo or practice, not a real combat.

Hopefully, Russia can save Assad's regime, stop ISIS from having a corridor to the Med, and provide a safe haven for Christians and other minorities. I'd assume the Russians would know how to handle it if some with terrorist intentions try to infiltrate.

Without that, take out a map and be very afraid. ISIS would be running cruise ships full of infiltrators to southern Europe from ISISland (or whatever). Add that to the terrorists walking into Germany and Austria. Most of the EU will be encircled. .

I think it is possible that Russians pay off cash-strapped Greek government in exchange for overflight right. WH had better get more bribe money ready for recalcitrant commies in charge of Greek government.

Clearly, the USA government doesn’t either. Our government is much more likely to defend muzzies.

Exactly. That Russians would support Syria should not surprise anyone with a knowledge of history, both recent and earlier.

When an article starts off: “Reports of Russia’s military presence have concerned leaders around the world, and on Saturday media said two Russian planes carrying aid landed in Latakia,” I take it as propaganda. Whose propaganda is unclear. Certainly sounds like it’s from a party that stands to gain from a Great Powers war in Syria or from worldwide fears of such a war. Maybe someone long on oil?

If leaders around the world are truly concerned, then they must be suppressing their intelligence services.

Seems a lot of people want to cling to the old Cold War. A lot has changed since then. The views of most Americans on the middle east have changed a lot since 9-11-2001. It’s no longer just the USA vs Russia.

It’s no longer about commie vs. freedom aggression. We’re becoming commie without their help. We’ve got idiot voters achieving that without a shot ever being fired.
