Bob Beckel is a rare breed in the cable news business for one reason: He somehow pulls off the combination of being a genuine, likable curmudgeon. And in doing so, he carved out a nice existence at Fox News, sparring effectively (without filter) with his political adversaries on The Five and doing weekly spots on The O’Reilly Factor.
But then–without notice or comment–the 66-year-old was gone. Not for a few days or weeks, but for four months. First back surgery was reportedly the reason, but eventually it was revealed that Beckel–who has suffered from drug and alcohol addiction in the past–had relapsed again and entered rehab, this time due to prescription drugs. What happened between the network and Beckel is unclear, but Fox’s patience would eventually run out after being without a co-host of one of its most-popular programs for what it felt was too long, and Beckel was relieved of his duties in late June.
Fast forward to this past Friday night, when it was still somewhat of a surprise to see the guy who once ran Walter Mondale’s 1984 presidential campaign back on cable news last night. The venue: CNN. Host: Don Lemon. The topic was, of course, Trump…whom CNN could find any one of 856 contributors and/or guests in the New York area to opine about. But Beckel got the call–or more likely–he pitched CNN on giving him a few at-bats.

Beckel was never a “likable curmudgeon” - he was a consistently obnoxious asswipe.
It had gotten to the point earlier this year when it was becoming apparent even to as oblivious an observe as me that Beckel’s colleagues on The Five could barely tolerate his presence, much less his gratuitous attacks on the women there.
He had to go.
Juan Williams, his successor, is a liberal but an intelligent and generally intellectually-honest one.
Beckel is foul mouthed as Juan Williams is not. Kimberly Guilfoyle tried to be nice to him, but that wasn’t enough to change his ways much.

Beckel is heads and shoulders above Juan Williams in terms of tolerability to listen too. Geraldo is an entire seperate conversation. When either of those two idiots are on the Five, I immediately switch to a different station. At least Beckel knew when to keep his mouth shut.
I can tolerate Juan Williams, but I liked Beckel much better. He had some colorful history behind him. On the other hand, I cannot stand Whorealdo and will not watch The Five when he is filling in. He is an ugly, evil, arrogant, mean and despicable liberal. Beckel is a much more likable guy as a person.
So, for the 110 million innocents and guilty that were killed by the communists, how many communists has Beckel or CNN or ABCNNBCBS ever criticized?
And how many conservatives has CNN crictized?
Juan Williams, his successor, is a liberal, mindlessly regurgitating the party line, totally incapable of entertaining an original thought but an intelligent and generally intellectually-honest one.

I don’t ever remember Guilfoyle being nice. I think it would be fun to see Megyn and Bob on CNN. Bob would probably be more conservative.
An intellectually honest liberal? I don't think so. Juan Williams especially not. He's a better liar than Beckel, that's about it IMO.
The reason that show is no longer watched....’he of broken nose’ is a regular. 2 other reasons.....D Parino and J Williams. The trio makes for terrible viewing. WE WANT BETTER Fox -they’ve their own plan and seem to love the no accounts
She certainly tolerated an awful lot of Beckels sexual comments. Many of which were over the line. Granted she does play up the tease, but knows when to stop.
Beckel is Christian who is brutally honest about his inner demons, such as his substance abuse. I like him and pray for him.
However, his drug problem and its effect on The Five show reminds me of Charlie Sheen and Two and a Half Men.
Their substance abuse negatively affects people beyond them, namely the production company, network, cast and crew of both shows.
If anyone says drug abuse is always in every instance a victimless crime, he or she is wrong.
I don't buy it.
To be a democrat in cahoots with abortion, the homosexual agenda and the other immoral democratic party platforms is antithetical to Christianity.
Now having said that, I believe Beckel thinks he's a Christian. And apparently so do you.
