The US Economy: Things are good and slowly getting better
Business Insider ^ | 08/30/2015 | Myles Udland

The US economy continues to grow at a modest, steady rate.

And this is great news.

Over the last year and a half, the economic story in the US has been the same: a disappointing start to the year followed by a rebound that overall indicates the economy is growing a bit more than 2% per year.

This week, we saw extreme volatility in the US stock market.

And while these wild price swings made headlines, the most important news of the week came Thursday morning, when we learned that the US economy grew 3.7% in the second quarter, better than economists had expected.

Compared to the prior year, the US economy grew 2.7% in the second quarter of 2015, right about what it's been for the last year or so.

Over the last year, two things about the US economy have been true: the labor market is rapidly improving and GDP growth is solid but not great.

Going into the August jobs report last year, the unemployment rate stood at 6.2%; now it stands at 5.3%. But a year before that — so, July 2013 — the unemployment rate was at 7.3%.

And so for two years we've seen massive year-on-year improvements in the broadest measure of the labor market's health. Meanwhile, total nonfarm payrolls have grown by over 5 million during this two-year period.

Solid and stable.

Despite these indications of a solid and stable US economy, something that has come up more than once in 2015 is the prospect of a US recession.

These experts need to talk to the average, middle class grocery shopper.

So strong that 93+ million people between the ages of 16-64 are unemployed.

Whatever jobs/economic gains that have been made during recent times has for the most part taken place in right-to-work areas and certainly not in socialist utopias like Kalifornia and New York. But of course, followers of The One will still trumpet these gains as if they really were his creation.

Some might say the economy is very bad, unemployment is sky high, debt is unservicable, and a complete economic collapse is in the offing because of horrible Big Government policy.
But then those who might say that are not apologists for Big Government.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Anyone that quotes the unemployment rate as proof of anything, other than government propaganda, is either stupid or part of the whole facade.

The GDP calculations are also fraudulent, not just simply inaccurate. The GDP is largely phonied up by fraudulent inflation numbers. If inflation were accurately calculated, the GDP would be revealed to be negative every year since since at least 2008, since inflation is deducted from GDP. And that is without considering the horse apples they now include as “productive output”, like Hollywood “creativity”.

The BLS is an Orwellian agency of the nth degree.

Yup. If the labor participation rate is not mentioned, I blow off the article.

Riiightt... and I am the Easter Bunny and leprechauns are real. These "Maroons" are completely oblivious to reality and to the fact that the overwhelming majority of American citizens (I can not speak as to the mindset of the illiterate illegal aliens among us) no longer believe ANY of their ongoing, never-ending LIES about their totally fabricated and fictitious "unemployment numbers" or how "good" the economy is doing!

The American economy has been and continues to be in the toiet by design! Obama, his "administration" and the "Democratic Party" hate America and have been, and continue doing everything within their power to actively divide, weaken and destroy the country from within. 93 MILLION UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS WHO WANT TO WORK CAN'T FIND A JOB! Over 50 MILLION AMERICANS ARE SUBSISTING ON FOOD STAMPS, and these jokers have the audacity to continue lying to our face by saying "the economy is on the rebound!"

And we only have a 17 trillion national debt and 200 trillion in future liabilities. Prosperity is just around the corner! /S

Unfortunately, nearly HALF U.S. citizens buy this garbage or don’t even care - because they’re Democrats.

I know a guy who hated his old job of installing garage doors - back during the Reagan years... And that was Reagans fault, according to him.

Now, the guy has a union job with the county, and because HE is employed (never mind his benefits are being cut and new hires aren’t happening - the current guys just have to do more with less), everything is just peachy fine! -because Obama is running the show!

This is the stubborn mind of your average democrat voter. “However bad it IS, it’s because of Republicans and would be SO much worse if Republicans were in charge...”

The GDP calculations are also fraudulent, not just simply inaccurate. The GDP is largely phonied up by fraudulent inflation numbers.

You can also add to that the 80 billion that is pumped into the economy every month is included in the GDP numbers.

This article is bovine squat.

Sadly this is so true, kids with college diplomas can’t get their first job. Obama doesn’t count the U5 long term unemployed in the U1 headline “NEWS” unemployment figure.

This is BS, add to this the illegals taking construction jobs from blue collar workers and China and Mexico getting all the old industry manufacturing jobs, how does this ever get better?

The Cheap Labor Express “Free Traitors” sure mucked up our country for 50 pieces of gold. They gave away our kids and grandkids future.

Free Trade is not FAIR TRADE.

Odumbocare will hit full force in 2016, there won’t be enough lipstick to go around at that point. What a hoot it will be to read stories like these a year from now and all the pretzel logic they will come up with on how great things are.

The payed off media hacks have been braying this BS for it seems ages. If you want to see how the real economy is doing go talk to the people who used to have good steady factory jobs who are now flipping burgers, WalMart greeters or milking welfare and/or disability to barely survive.
