Air Force Captain Mathew Roland was killed in Afghanistan, according to family acquaintance.
Sharon Plate said Roland attended St. Pius X High School before his father, Air Force Colonel Mark Roland, was transferred to Lexington, Kentucky.
Matt was an Eagle Scout from Troop 174 at Paradise Hills Methodist Church and a 2010 graduate of the Air Force Academy. He was 27 years old and was a wonderful role model for the younger Scouts, Plate said.
Popular Military.com states that Staff Sgt. Forrest B. Sibley, 31, of Pensacola, Florida, was killed along with Roland Wednesday after their vehicle came under attack near Camp Antonik, Afghanistan.
According to officials in in the article, the two airmen were killed by two men wearing Afghan military uniforms who opened fire within an Afghan National Defense and Security Forces compound in Helmand province.
The two shooters were reportedly killed when service members returned fire during the attack.
Sibley and Roland were deployed in support of the Resolute Support mission, aimed at bolstering Afghan forces after the end of major U.S. combat operations late last year.
Active Duty ping.
When men wearing Afghan military uniforms cannot be trusted, it is time to stop working with them.
we lose good men while human trash runs wild here.
Policemen and soldiers being taken out one by one, two by two. It’s time for it to stop!
Yes, dear Grams. It’s time.
RIP.
I’m sure obama will honor their sacrifice with govt officials at their funeral...oh wait he only does that for druggie thugs who attack cops.
soetoro has already surrendered. Pull out all normal troops and replace them with his vanguard of homos and trannys
Be safe. You have our thanks, prayers and condolences.
Tomorrow when I am working with the teens at Church, we will remember Capt. Roland and SSgt Sibley in our prayers. I was just at Hurlburt this April for a memorial service, the services seem to get harder as I get older. God speed Capt. Roland and SSgt Sibley!
I pray for their souls, and curse obama’s.
