At 14-acres each, the additions to the Disney parks in Anaheim and Orlando, Florida, represent our largest single-themed land expansion ever, said Iger, speaking before some 7,500 Star Wars fans at the biennial convention. He added that the new environments will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an (attraction) that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

The company released artists renderings of the fictional planet, described as a remote trading port.

This is good stuff...lots of jobs attached to this in making these expansions.
Universal Studios has Marvel-Themed rides, but now Disney owns the Marvel franchise and has not acted upon it for it’s parks.
If done correctly, Disney could milk Star Wars & Marvel for the next 30 years.
I hope it is a separate park.
They are already mixing the themes too much.
First they have to arrange for the hundreds of H-1Bs, green cards . . . .
Sen. Sessions vindicated? New York Times reports Disney replaced workers with foreign temps "Walt Disney World fired 250 employees, hired Indian workers [from an outsourcing firm based in India] on a temporary visa and then made the outgoing Americans stay to train them."
Very exciting. Was just at Disney in CA and the “Cars” ride was fun, but Matterhorn shut down for improvements. Big Thunder Mtn was improved.
Big Thunder Mtn is my fav - - -
Also like Splash Mtn - - -
An aside - daughter tap danced in the spring parade many years ago.
Twice a day.
If she wanted to return to the park between shows, she would have paid FULL admission - !!!
Never understood why these ‘employees’ didn’t get some kind of special privilege.
Unlike many others, daughter lived over an hour from Disneyland - freeway traffic, etc. Not do-able.
She loved the experience, however.
The try-outs were sort of grueling - the park wants the best - (that shows up for the try-outs, of course).
Only once did a fellow dancer who lived near the park invite her to spend the night.
PS
Isn’t ‘CARS’ in ‘Calif Adventure,’ right across the way from
D-Land?
I could be wrong - - -
A darker version of Tomorrow Land. More in tune with 21st Century expectations.
Aw, Cars Land is so nice! It’s beautiful at night. Glad they improved California Adventure by adding that. And all the traffic cones -— did you notice even the landscaping had plants with flowers shaped like cones? Adorable.
Really looking forward to Star Wars Land!
Right. Isn’t that what I said? I’m old school so both parks to me are “Disneyland” and all the FL parks are “Disney World”.
Because we stay at the California Hotel, we got in early and rode Cars 3-4 times before the crowds got there.
Anybody old enough to remember E-Ticket rides?
Oh yes.
“At 14-acres each, the additions to the Disney parks in Anaheim and Orlando.”
Sure look separate.
Yup
You have hit on the only thing Disney cares about! They can and do keep raising their gate and parking fees to ridiculous levels and people still flood the parks to the point that almost all your time is spent in line and then they rape you at the concession stands. And the what I really get blown away by is how many people are happy with it!
Just dandy. More tourists. More traffic and more crime. It is time to block off I-95.
