There is a simple reason why Donald Trump is leading the race nationally amongst the numerous Republicans vying for the nomination of their party. Voters are despondent, and angry, and looking for somebody different.
Republicans are mad that the Republican controlled Congress has produced nothing. They recognize that the Republican leadership has been ineffectual. They see Donald Trump fighting and fighting hard.

EXACTLY. If the wall was built according to plan nearly a decade ago Trump’s campaign would have hit with as a big a bang as Linsey Gram’s kickoff.
The REPUBLICAN PARTY chose to IGNORE US and take us for granted. We took it in the back-end in 2008 and 2012 - sorry but TIME IS UP. We’re through with them, their money, and the people that answer to their money (like Rubio, Walker, and Jeb) - rather than us.

Resolving an issue in politics leads to a drop in support and lower voter turnout. I recently read that the big win on gay marriage will cause a huge drop in Democratic turnout.
Don’t look for Obamacare’s repeal or a solution to the border crisis. That would be bad for politicians who need those issues to secure office.

I can see that angle, but it does go both ways. In the case of Open Borders, the Republican we elected to secure the border were ACTIVELY SCHEMING for Amnesty and would have gotten it on Obama’s desk, had Cantor not been defeated last year. That is not exactly a great way to get votes either.
But when securing the border is the CENTERPIECE of your campaign, as with Trump, then things are different - as your personal word is involved. Most candidates actually try to keep their word on their top campaign issues, as they know they will lose BADLY if they double-back - as in “Read my Lips”.
McConnell very likely will find his majority leadership a short-lived experience.
At the rate he has been giving Obama everything Obama wanted, his party could be for a major loss of Senate seats next November.
The Pubbies have about 24 seats up. The Dems have about 9. McConnell and Boehner ran on the theme that ‘they learned their lesson [re: Lott and Frist fiascos] and now know how to govern.’ They think giving everything in the store to Obama is effective governing.
If the ‘mad as hell’ voters continue to support Trump, they likey might vote against the ole obstacle senators.
McConnell and Boehner are siding in the destruction of our country. I’m thankful at least one man is standing up. God Bless Cruz!

I cringe every time I see that Perry ad — that he called on Obama to secure the border, and when Obama didn’t, he called in the NG. If elected, he would secure the border.
Perry just doesn’t have much credibility on that subject. He went into a tirade at the debates in 2012 about heartless people not having compassion for illegals.
Nearly every contender since 2008 has latched on the ‘secure the border’ canard.

Trustworthiness is not just an issue on the Dem side. Many of the Pubbie contenders have the same problem.
Trust Perry with border issues?
Trust Rubio with border issues?
Trust JBush with border issues?
Trust Huckabee with border issues?

Many of them have a history of supporting illegals over citizens.

Agree - the others are already bought and paid for.
If the GOP Seantors would get aboard the Trump Train on immigration and trade, they would have a chance to keep the Senate.
However, they are both stupid and paid for.
GOP loses the Senate and puts the House at risk in '16.
Perry deserves that crack Trump made about him wearing glasses to look smart. I haven't heard much about Perry's decisive success in securing the Tex-Mex border until he became a born-again candidate.
Donald Trump hasn't personally shoved legislation down our throats (or up our rectums, as the case may be), but Mitch McConnell and John Boehner have done so with regularity accompanied by absolute contempt… they along with John "America's Greatest War Hero of All Time Even Into Perpetuity as Determined By Media Gatekeepers" McCain, Lindsey Graham, and other fine examples of the GOP-e Corrupt Bastards Club. Right now, DT is - at worst - a potential no-good, damnable "public servant" sucking the blood out of the USA, whereas an apparent majority of the Republican Party are at this point in time confirmed malefactors who are beneath the DC rock scurrying around in parasitical parity with their loathsome so-called "opposition."

The best thing that could happen in both Houses of Congress would be for the both of them to be sent packing. I think Trump and Cruz could get some much needed house cleaning done.

Yes, in the general, I could vote for Trump if he’s the republican candidate. I’m just afraid he’s going to pull a Perot. As of now, I’ll be voting Walker in the primary.
