My family and I often take our dogs on long walks around our (mostly white neighborhood). One thing I've noticed is there are usually so few people outside...especially children.
Perhaps it's a false memory, but I recall when I was a kid that there were kids running through the streets and kids riding their bikes everywhere.
The only kids I seem to see outside might be a couple of Hispanic kids playing in front of their house.
This weekend we went to a park (again in a suburb that's 90% Caucasian) and we were the only ones there who were white. Well, actually not, my wife is Mexican, and my daughter is obviously mixed. There were a few dozen people there but all were Asian, Somali, and Hispanic.
I'm curious, is it like this everywhere or just Minneapolis. And again, where is everyone?
I live in a mixed neighborhood here in SoCal and I see people out. Especially in the evening. Not so much during work days and when school is in.
When I was a kid the new houses in our middle class neighborhood weren’t insulated efficiently enough to air condition all the time. We could only afford to keep the house cool at night. Poor people could only afford to keep maybe one room cool with a window unit. If that.
Kids played outside because it was cooler outside. They went swimming to cool off. Without an air conditioner filtering the air, the outdoor air was also cleaner.
Now people stay indoors when it is hot.

It’s everywhere. The main entertainment for kids are video games, movies and social network sites. I would bet that lower income families can’t afford such things and they are the ones playing outside. It’s a shame.
I walk Minneapolis and Twin Cities parks frequently. I think it depends on the park. At midday I can walk even in Northeast and see large numbers of white park users.
Kids are constantly outside playing around here. My own kids were never among them, though.

You answered your own question right there. Most of us Millineals are mixed, most of the kids I grew up with were mixed Asian, Native American, or Hispanic.
I was the odd ball out in the sense that even though my skin was white, I'm Jewish but technically only half so.
you would have been hard pressed to have found a fellow kid growing up who didn't have a Asian grandparents or great grandparent, we are all mixed now.
My first visit to Griffith Park near Los Angeles was in the 50’s while visiting from Kansas. Moved to CA in the 60’s. I went there by myself in the 80’s and decided to take a road thru the back of the park. It was like running the gauntlet, packed with gays. Never seen that many gays in one place.
Whites aren’t having children anymore. Where have you been? Haven’t you seen the headlines in the news about white women being too busy to have children these days?
The USA fertility rate is 1.86 as of 2013. You need a minimum of 2.1 to maintain the population.

Our parks have been taken over by homeless and drug dealers. No one goes in them.
There is a park just down the street from us that is frequented by the predominately white residents with their children. It could be the 1950’s on that account. They have girls soccer leagues down there too, pretty much all white also.
I often wonder how all this is possible. Just holdouts, I guess, although its all around us. Nobody talks about it, but someday ...
The homeless are allowed to hang out at parks and public libraries now days due to court decisions. The librarians allow porn viewing there, too.
Gangs also operate in parks. Look for the graffiti.
It’s not really safe to let kids go to those places alone anymore.
Computer and console games have killed American children. I fight it with my kids all the time. Kids just don’t play outside anymore. It’s sad.
Same thing here in New York.

You’re exactly right; those white children simply aren’t being born. My oldest child was born over a dozen years ago in a “white” area here in NJ; of fifteen infants in the maternity ward, there were two whites, two blacks, one Asian (Oriental), and ten Hispanic babies. Whites that have avoided having children have deceived themselves that others were doing it elsewhere; that simply isn’t true (outside of Utah).
Whites won’t be a minority by 2050; more likely by 2020. That is how Obama was elected twice.
