Fans were sent into a frenzy as a behind-the-scenes clip from Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Force Awakens was released at Comic-Con International on Friday.

The three-and-a-half minute video gives loyal followers insight on the making of the highly-anticipated seventh film of the franchise.

Classic stars including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels could be seen in the clip as well as newcomers Lupita Nyong'o, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Domhnall Gleeson.

Director of the flick, JJ Abrams, is shown hyping up the cast and crew as he makes the announcement: 'We are here on day one of Star Wars: Episode Seven. How incredible is that?'

Characters getting into their costumes, interviews with the cast, sets being built, majestic scenes of the desert planet Jakku and even explosions were major elements of the video.

I’ll bet this movie is more gimmicks than story. When it comes down to it the first movie is great the next two were entertaining and the final three were crap.

Agree 100% about the last three.

The Director making these movies made the last two Star Treks.

Perhaps these 3 movies will be better than the last three prequels?

The making of the movie is probably little more than 4 or 5 guys in a small room with a few computers at a ‘studio’ somewhere.

It has become all about selling merchandise. If they happen to make a few dollars off the actual movie, that’ll pay the taxes(assuming they pay taxes)....

I was mildly enthusiastic about this being the first good star wars movie in 40 years, but then I heard Ewoks were in it and my hopes were shattered

So this is footage about the second film of the new trilogy? Are these being made out of sequence as the first 6 episodes were???

So you aren’t looking forward to the dance off between Jar Jar and a rival school of Ewoks?

...’Real sets, practical effects,...

This is what’s got me intrigued with the new Star Wars — the possibility that it won’t just be a bunch of CGI.

In Star Trek JJ Abrahms blew up the planet Vulcan, the crew look like they step off a Nickelodeon set, there were lousy sets with lots of bright annoying lights. Engineering was a beer factory in Van Nuys, CA. He made an admiral a bad guy trying to start a war. He had Kirk sleep with or imply he did with Nurse Chapel, Uhura, Carol Marcus (daughter of bad admiral) and also ignored the universe for the most part, you know where a starship explores.

So good luck with Star Wars.
He will probably have a Jar Jar Binks character in it named Wesley Crusher......

Looks like Mayhew is the only one reading the script. I am sure he will nail his marks and dialogue on the first take. tee-hee-hee.
