My British friends, who vacation on the Greek Islands every two weeks, it seems, assures me that everything is just fine and dandy! Brits are sometimes very obtuse...anything for a $50 plane ride to a sunny clime.

>>Nonsense. If Europe was so much smarter than South America, they wouldn’t be in this mess. Not that we’re that much smarter.

Read what you just wrote. Do you really believe that Americans and Europeans are culturally equivalent to South Americans. Compare western culture to their culture. We didn’t accomplish all that by pure luck. The problem with today is that the failed and weak cultures have been brought into western culture, demanded and been given equality, and then we learned to be afraid to recognize the accomplishments of our culture relative to theirs.

I’ve been to South America. They rest and party a lot. We work and worry a lot. Admittedly, Greeks are not Germans in their work ethic, but they still have a better work ethic (even under socialism) than Venezuelans.

The Europeans and North Americans are victims of our own success at creating comfort. But it was only a couple generations ago, when we were economic powerhouses and many of the people in those earlier generations are still alive.

Well, the Spanish several years ago were picking food out of trash dumps, the Greeks have run out of newsprint and the Portuguese - who knows? Let's not mention Great Britain and its Muslim problem. Oh, and I've been to South America, too, so don't condescend. And during Hurricane Sandy, I saw a lot of misery and hysteria. Yes, I think that northern Europe and America are better than South America and southern Europe but we are on the brink of the precipice because of greed and corruption by our elected officials.

Not condescending. Just stating fact. Europeans sailed to South America, not the other way around. When steel-armored Conquistadors arrived, they found people wearing skins and using stone knives. The only changes have been due to one-way technology transfers.

After the events of the last couple weeks, I don’t pretend that other cultures are equal. Screw them.

What happened at the Frank Lloyd Wright Museum in Chicago?

I sense a cute story..;)

Not so cute. The curators were such unmitigated snobs that they looked down on Ernest Hemingway - whose boyhood home was a block away and also a museum (and much better and more polite than the aholes in the Wright museum). I eventually complained by email and they ignored me. Academics instead of the loving amateurs of the Hemingway House.

Arrogant elitist liberals, no doubt.

I moved to rural Tennessee to get away from that, and who do I have across the street? A liberal Yankee elitist know-it-all! God’s sense of humor is sarcastic at times.

Trying to find a potter to make me a zeer. A non-electric way to keep food cool by evaporative cooling, widely available in sub-Saharan Africa.

Refrigerators were a Very Big Deal after Katrina.
Fools were told the electricity would go out, so turn off breaker.
Fools were told to take perishables out, place them in a cooler with ice and take them, along with certain basic necessities, and get out.
Fools dindu any of these things.
Fools then blamed the gubbermint for their maggot infested refrigerators.
They pushed them onto the curb, spilt the vomit-inducing contents into the street, and rioted when their FEMA payouts were slow and the lines were too long or the appliance store ran out of refrigerators.
Meanwhile, enterprising entrepreneurs were hauling off the maggoty fridges, giving them a quick hosing, and selling them to Fools.

Well, she has motivated me to speak out more about my opinions on things. Fortunately I’m not in the minority like I was in Mexifornia. The other neighbors are all pretty conservative. One bought a new battle flag and has it on his ATV ;)

Blabby neighbors are annoying. I just moved and my new neighbor in the back is a know-it-all braggart who I avoid at all costs - even to refusing to sit in my pretty backyard. I miss the neighbors of my old home who were so very nice.
