It's only words...nothing is going to happen or change. After all, abortion has been legal since 1972 and you can have an abortion up until the moment the baby is born. There have been 40+ years of marches, speeches, etc. and nothing has changed.

Don't get too excited - it's only mere words. Cruz can't do a thing about it.

Give him a pen and a phone, and he can do a lot of things. Just ask BO.

I took the time and went through the entire speech - clearly, Ted Cruz draws his greatest inspiration from Ronaldus Magnus.

But more than simply emulating the Great Communicator, Senator Cruz goes on to BUILD on that foundation, and given the opportunity, will rise to the same stratospheric heights as the 40th President.

When it shall be once again a matter of pride to SAY we have reclaimed the White House.

Every candidate has to start somewhere, these speeches give us a good preview of what a Cruz administration would look like and operate. I can say that I’m more excited about a Cruz presidency than I have ever been about a Bush presidency. I was too young to experience Reagan, these speeches give me hope!

Can your boy Walker do anything at this point about the constitutional amendment he’s calling for, or are those just empty words too?

You make a good point. Hope and idealism is good (forgive that hope thing I just wrote). I was just barely old enough to vote for Reagan and it was fantastic. But even Reagan couldn't do things he said he wanted to do, such as abolish the Education Dept. There wasn't even an attempt made. I suppose they thought it would not happen, so why waste capital on it. I agree about the Bush/Cruz thing. Bush was status quo and Cruz is not.

Yes, those are words, too. I like Cruz a lot. In fact, Cruz is my first choice and Walker second. I would be happy with either one. Cruz would be more divisive, but I don't think that is a bad thing. I like Cruz because you know exactly where he stands (unless it's trade). Walker carries a softer stick, but still gets what he wants.

Having written that, I am particularly jaded at this point and I don't think much can be reversed, which is why I made the comment about abortion.

There are not enough principled republicans in Congress to effect change and that does not seem to be changing. It may be nice to have a Cruz or Walker as president, but any change is on the edges, that is about all.

We should never trust any politician, but with things being so crappy. Why not listen to something that sounds optimistic on the future?

First, I wasn't addressing you. The person I addressed it to replied with a very thoughtful response. Your reply is similar to the many low information people on this website now. Short 3 or 4 word sentences; sometimes less.

Many people who post on this website are like you. Short sentences with nothing resembling any kind of coherent thought adding nothing to the intellectual discourse. You did not refute my premise so I have to assume you agree on some level. It's just that you didn't like someone actually writing that thought. Reality is not always kind.

There is no reason to be a Cruzophobe.

Fear of spiders: arachnophobia.
Fear of tight spaces: claustrophobia
Fear of Ted Cruz: logic.

Superman and Ted Cruz bet one another over who would win in a ‘no holds barred’ fight.
The loser agreed to wear his underwear outside his pants.

Shed your fear. Resistance is futile.
Your unhappy life as you know it is over.
FRiend, get in bed with Ted. Today.

“Having written that, I am particularly jaded at this point and I don’t think much can be reversed”

I hear you on that — it’s a huge uphill battle against the leadership and most members of two major political parties to turn the tide in the other direction, and I’m not sure either Cruz or Walker can pull it off. They will need to lead on these issues every day and inspire enough of us to get involved and put pressure on lawmakers to make the changes.

Bottom line is whether we go with Cruz or Walker (and they are the only two worth supporting at this point) it’s still gonna take a miracle. But this country has faced odds like this before and turned things around, so I still hold out some hope...
