My Friend, the Hillary-Hater (vanity)

Democrats decided in 1992 that they didn't want to be locked out of the White House for another 20 out of 24 years, so they figured they'd stick like glue to whoever the party nominated -- and it's been like that ever since.

They realized then that they wouldn't win the country over on social issues and that they could never take back and hold onto the White House if they weren't united in the most rigid way.

Their chances have been better lately, but they still cling to that way of thinking. It's quite a change for a party that was notoriously unruly and unmanageable back in Will Rogers's day.
