People Of A Certain Age.....

Are evidently not supposed to buy baby food.

I went to the grocery store today and bought some baby food. I have four dogs, and one of them is sick and I feed him baby food.

I know, but that's how I roll.

The cashier at the grocery store was a young woman, probably around twenty years old.

She looked at the baby food and then she looked at me. She did this a few times. She had a puzzled look on her face.

She finally looked me in the eyes and said,

"You have a baby?"

I suppose I could have been upset and called her an "Ageaphobe", but I like having a little fun.

"Yep", I said. "I'm the proud Papa of quadruplets."

Her eyes got wider.

"Quadruplets?", she stammered.

"Yep", I replied."Two black, one white and a red one."

Her eyes got even wider.

"I leave them in the back of the pickup. You wanna see 'em?" I asked.

She was going to get mad, but then she saw me grinning.

"The baby food is for one of my dogs", I told her. "My baby is six foot four these days."

She laughed in relief.

Every 10 years or so, I’ll get a couple of jars of pureed banana. It feels like going home.

Maybe the possibility of ‘grandchildren’ didn’t quite occur to her either...

Should have told her you like to get neked, smear it all over you and roll around on the kitchen floor. Then invite her over. I like messing with the young minds. Gives me a good chuckle.

Also the possibility of a toothless aging parent. My 87 yr old mom is rejecting more and more things as unchewable and I have been contemplating baby food to widen her selection.

I'm always "rescuing" dogs or so it seems. Baby food is the best thing for a malnourished dog.
I got my latest abandoned pup about ten days ago. She was starving when I found her. She's doing just fine now....
Thanks, in part, to baby food.

The older I get, the better the chuckle. Lol.

Baby food kept our elderly cat alive for at least an extra year. One time, I bought 12 jars of baby food and a 12-pack of Coors Light. I wondered what the cashier thought. So I said, “We're starting THIS baby off on LIGHT beer ... I hope it don't make him sissy!”

No reaction.

I used to love Blueberry Buckle. When my kids were babies, I probably got 2/3 of the Blueberry Buckle, to their 1/3.
