Catholics used to be barred from eating meat on Fridays. Yet my Protestant friends ate meat on Fridays. I guess I should have been offended. /s

I just read a column by John Derbyshire about Ramadan in Sweden. It seems the Muslims are perturbed by the fact the sun shines almost all day that far north, and they're not supposed to eat while the sun is shining.

Derbyshire suggested it was Allah's way of telling Muslims they shouldn't be living that far north.

We ate at a Mexican place tonight. I ordered enchiladas. The waiter asked if I wanted beef, chicken or pork.

I said, “Well, since it’s ramadan I’ll have to have the pork!”

My daughter laughed.
