I was watching a show on the science channel just the other night that theorized a correlation climatic fluctuations and spurts of evolutionary brain size doubling every 400,000 years.
Apparently earth falls into gravitational resonance with Jupiter every 400,000 years that causes earth’s orbit to elongate by a few million miles.
Well, that sounds amusing, do you remember the name of the show?
Theories are interesting things. I hear them and I instantly have questions.
If every 400,000 years Jupiter and the Earth do line up to cause an elongated orbit, wouldn’t it stand to reason they would also line up to cause a reduced orbit, thus cancelling each other out?
Perhaps you’ve seen the recent recognition of the planets lining up, and how that was going to cause earthquakes.
Somehow the gravitational pull of Neptune, Mars, and Venus are supposed to cause extreme pressure on the Earth.
Never mind that the massive Sun and even the Moon exert far more pressure due to their proximity or size, and they don’t seem to cause massive earthquakes on a regular basis.
I hear these things and smile. I’m not trying to give you a hard time, but I do see these as similar to the ‘Chicken Little’ story line, even if a negative outcome wasn’t provided in your technical mention.
I’m not seeking to make a comment on you here at all, so don’t take it that way.
Take care.
Does it also cause our heads and brains to elongate?
