A study published this month in the Journal of Medical Ethics examined the “deliberate” euthanasia of patients in Belgium without their explicit, voluntary consent as required by law.

The study’s author, Raphael Cohen-Almagor, a professor of philosophy and ethics at the United Kingdom’s Hull University, found that life-ending drugs were used “with the intention to shorten life and without explicit request” in 1.7 percent of all deaths in Belgium in 2013.

In 52.7 percent of these cases, the patients were 80 years of age or older. The decision to euthanize was not discussed with the patient in 77.9 percent of the cases because he/she was comatose, had dementia, or “because discussion would have been harmful to the patient’s best interest,” according to the study.

Belgium passed the Euthanasia Act in 2002, which states that only voluntary euthanasia is legally permissible. …

“because discussion would have been harmful to the patient’s best interest,”

Just great. Doctors are secretly killing patients, in their best interest. Secret killing, secret legislation, secret detainment. Everything done by those in power is now secret; which is to say, the public is not worthy of even being informed much less involved with the operations of the elites.

Once we start killing for expedience it gets worse and worse. Little helpless babies die by the millions. We all were lucky.

Doctor Anna Po did exactly the same thing here, in a hospital during the aftermath of Katrina. She not only got off scott free, she still practices, as far as I know. It was widely admitted that-if she had been found guilty, and her judgment as a doctor questioned at all-no doctors would remain to treat patients after disasters. So- doctors are infallible and must not be questioned-ever. The mentality exists here already.

England had a list of 80,000 people that will be killed if they end up in a hospital. No food or water would be given to the patients. The Daily News and other English papers revealed the death list. It had been going for who knows how long. The gov’t changed the policy so they say but if you call their 911 for an ambulance to take you to a hospital they will not come as their is another death list.

Socialists kill as many people as communists.

“because discussion would have been harmful to the patient’s best interest . . . ”

WTF? Can you even begin to wrap your head around such an idiotic statement?

The closest I can come is people who say they had an abortion because they couldn't bear the thought of giving up their child for adoption.

Given that communists never progress beyond the “socialism” stage, they and socialists are really one and the same. (Marx claimed that a transition from “bourgeois capitalism” to socialism was necessary to create a state that would “wither away” into communism, but one chief characteristic of his insanity was that he did not acknowledge that a state that is all powerful does not “wither away” but dies in convulsions.)

“intention to shorten life and without explicit request”

Um, isn’t that a definition of murder?

“Euthanizing someone without consent” sounds like a nice way of saying “MURDER”.

Based on what I’ve read....in the Belgian cases with dementia or Alzheimer’s....if the individual cannot comprehend, the relatives are part of the process and given the power to sign the documents. The story is written in a certain way to avoid mentioning this fact.

You can put this into the category that this dementia person or Alzheimer’s patient are likely within a couple of months of dying or just being in a vegetative status. There’s nothing left in terms of ‘enjoyment’ or achievement. The sad side of this story is that science and medicine have done something to extend out your life....so that you don’t die in your forties or fifties anymore. And you are more susceptible for dementia or Alzheimers than you would have been a generation or two ago.

It’s not idiotic, it’s evil. You see, to the leftist, the patient’s “best interest” is to die. However, if you ask the patient if they want that, the patient might say “no thanks”. Much easier just not to ask, and avoid that possibility.

Well that didn’t take long. Only 10 years for the “right to die” to turn into being murdered for the convenience of others.

If you think that this is just happening in Europe, you had better think again. The longer OBAMA CARE stays as law in this country, the more you’ll be seeing this in this country. You fools, that think OBAMA CARE was to relieve us of all our medical expenses, will soon see that in order to do that, the government must do away with the elderly, because it’s the elderly that is raising the cost of medical care. And in order to lessen the medical cost of every body, they must start with the elderly.

Just because a relative says you can euthanize Great Aunt Thelma doesn’t make it right. Ask Terry Schiavo.

Either one respects life from conception until natural death or they don’t.*

*The death penalty is allowable in certain cases as to protect society, and to be exercised with great care and deliberation.*

The only way to end euthanasia is to threaten the murderers with killing.

A small organization with no connection to the families of the victims of euthanasia, would stalk, hunt and kill medical personnel who murder, in such a way that their peers would have no doubt as to the reason for the killing.

A good comparison are the few people who killed abortion providers in the US. While their actions were condemned by the anti-abortion groups who seek a peaceful political end to abortion; the effect of actually killing a murderer was extraordinary in persuading other abortionists and potential abortionists to “get out of the business.”

And the same psychology applies to medical personnel who carry out euthanasia. They need to be too scared to murder.
