And let's admit this, too: Deep down, many of us are glad Trump is running because we're addicted to the sort of vapid, stakes-less bloodsport that has become his specialty.

Really? I thought his specialty was turning millions into billions. His TV show is a diversion for him (which I find unwatchable and yes is quite vapid ).

Don't get me wrong, I don't ever envision voting for Donald Trump.
But he says things I wish some of the real contenders had the balls to say.

Sometimes I put things together in my mind when I'm sleeping. I LOVE IT that Donald Trump is in the race! Why?

One of the things people are fed up with is political correctness. We're supposed to have free speech. The Trump haters are claiming to be the truest conservatives. Yet they're criticizing it whenever in the past four decades or so Trump has said anything provocative! Yup, they're behaving just like the political class always does.

Damn it, I want to tell the neighbor who doesn't mow their lawn "you're fired". I want to tell those who ruined math with Common Core "you're idiots". I want to ask people who tell me "thug" is racist to move to a country that doesn't have free speech! I want to be in a country that still respects individuality!

I like the political class cowering. They're getting dictatorial around here, implying that we must be wrong about the trade bill because Cruz is never wrong. They should watch it....not many intellectually challenged folks last very long on FR.

So yeah, Donald, DO IT!! Wake up America. Teach us how to laugh at ourselves, not be afraid of honest free speech, to admire success, and to enjoy each other.

It just might be Trump's time.

Why doesn't the donald run as a demonRAT? He would clearly draw large crowds, and get way more attention from the msm because he was challenging her thighness.

The truth is, about half of all Republicans and about half of all Democrats have double-digit IQs. It’s not surprising that Trump appeals to some.

The media has made the presidency a circus act and freak show. The Donald is one of theirs yet he is quite the rogue at it. The Donald doesn’t quite fit inside the leftist media’s box or meme’s. Let the irritations commence.

The gladiator part of Trump’s personality is his best point - and that’s why I welcome him into the race. He and Fiorina are doing the best job of attacking Hillary and other liberals, and that’s good for the entire field.

I will apologize in advance for my next rhetorical/fantasy question. If I actually had the chance, what would I ask candidate Trump? “What do you feed that Cocker Spaniel you wear on your head?” Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

“Trumpery knows no party”

This guy is striving futilely to present himself as a deep thinker. In this article, he uses Trump as the baseline for exposing what is so wrong in the American psyche. Americans like what he is saying, so that means there is something wrong with Americans. He labels what Trump is saying as “trumpery” a word meaning attractive but of no use. He makes no effort to refute what Trump says, he just name calls. Take Jeb!, for example. Jeb! has insisted many times that for the United States to recapture its former glory, it is necessary to import multitudes of “aspirational youth” from south of the border to reinvigorate the dull Americans, who can no longer sire the the sons and daughters capable of accomplishing the task on their own (residents south of the border have an IQ 10 to 12 points lower than the average American IQ). Now, compare the two candidates, and tell me who is engaging in trumpery. And with Jeb!, that is just one of many if his inane positions. But this idiot writer thinks those inanities are spot on.

Under the category of “Gladitorial Blowhards,” the answer is ... Jesse Ventura.”

[Ding]

Alex: IronJack?

Me: Who is the mentally challenged musclehead actually elected by the loopy citizens of Minnesota to serve as governor?

Alex: Correct. I would also have accepted “brain-dead loudmouth” or “certifiable cretin.”

I disagree with this article, it isn’t imaginary slights and a failure of national character that causes us to view with alarm shipping the jobs overseas and bringing cheap temporary labor here (some of it hostile) as an unsustainable model.

It isn’t the product of a desire to live vicariously that causes us to be alarmed when again and again Congress refuses to abide by its raison d’etre.

Trump is not so much playing gladiator, it’s more like Pied Piper.

The thing about Trump is, he will just lead the people he fools out into a field and drop them there, other sweet-talking liars won’t be so nice.

A lot of “maybes” in that post. The real one is that “maybe” we’ll be able to count on him to get some information out there that people need to hear. No; he won’t win. But a lot of what he says is true and because he’s an entertainer people will hear him — and maybe even listen.
