You’ve decided to give up diet soda—good idea! Maybe you weren’t hitting your weight-loss goals or couldn’t stomach that long list of ingredients anymore. Or perhaps you heard one too many times that it’s just not good for you.

Whatever the reason, eliminating diet soda from your diet will improve your health from head to toe. Research on diet soda is still in its infancy, but there’s enough out there to identify what you can look forward to when you put down the can and cool down with an unsweetened iced tea instead.

The “factoids” of this beg somethinkng...

one is lower rate of adult onset (type 2)diabetes from 1 study in Japan... lets look at the logic here..

Obesity is a primary cause of Type 2 Diabetes .

People that are obease often try to diet

those that do often drink diet drinks.

So Effect = Type 2 diabetes

Purported Cause = (factoid) Diet soda..

Probable actual cause Obesity. of which Diet soda consumption is an probable effect.

I don’t care. I’m 47 and diet coke isn’t the reason I’m not the picture of health.
there’s a woman over 100 who has 3 dr. peppers a day.
and with my luck, I’d take up smoking instead.

Give a large pizza, cut it in 4 slices because I can’t eat 8, and let me have a diet Coke.

There are some who claim that diet sodas trick your body into thinking you aren't full or otherwise mess with your metabolism when it comes to digesting your daily intake.

They conject that the people overeat because they don't realize they are full, not because they think "it's okay, I'm dieting elsewhere in my intake"

Dieters drink diet pop because it tastes as good as the high calorie pop.

If there was a diet pizza that tasted as good as the high calorie pizza, dieters would eat that diet pizza with the diet pop.

The difference between tea(sweetened or not) and any kind of ‘soda’ should be obvious.

Having your intestines inflated like a weather balloon may not be in your best interests. Especially on a steady basis.

You might find this interesting:

Artificial sweeteners may do more than sweeten

I have read other studies recently that examine insulin response to artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners were approved for Type I diabetes where there is a lack of insulin. No research was done previously on Type II or insulin resistance.

Ok, I will give up my daily diet cokes....but not the fifth of whiskey, the two packs of Camels, my 5000 calories of meals, and my after-dinner cigar.

I like diet because I cannot can’t stand the sickening sweet taste of any sugared drinks, to keep blood sugar levels lower, and hold down calories.
