Youre not supposed to go on the Internet when youre cast as a superhero. But after taking on Johnny Storm in Fantastic Foura character originally written with blond hair and blue eyesI wanted to check the pulse out there. I didnt want to be ignorant about what people were saying. Turns out this is what they were saying: A black guy? I dont like it. They must be doing it because Obamas president and Its not true to the comic. Or even, Theyve destroyed it!

They made Superman a Global citizen so why not? The faster they collapse the industry the faster it will return to it’s original concepts and characters as they were intended.
It’d be like a white guy playing Mr T. Not going to work. At all.
The Human Torch has already been rebooted several times. The first one was NOT part of the Fantastic Four and was in fact an android. This ain’t Clark Kent or Peter Parker.
Well see, it would have been racist to portray The Thing. /s
The alternative is for adults to avoid movies based on comic books.
Good grief. I’m a huge comic book fan and have enjoyed most of the Marvel super hero movies. But making Johnny Storm black was really a dumb decision. Most people are fed up with forced political correction. To be preached at by the token Negro in this movie is not helpful. This movie’s gonna bomb.
Sounds like a massive fail waiting to happen in my opinion.
Agreed.
Bomb guaranteed now.
I just think of this movie as if it’s in a different universe, like the 2099 universe, where you can have the same characters but not necessarily the same people playing those characters.
Reed is too young. In the comics, he’s almost 17 years older than his wife.
In this movie, he’s still a teen.
That doesn’t suggest a movie with credibility.
I thought the first two movies were pretty good movies.
It’s become a genre onto its own right. There is nothing wrong with a well-written superhero movie.
It’ll bomb, but not because of Johnny Storm’s race.
It’ll bomb because the super hero movie market is saturated right now, and the MCU owns that space. FF is, like Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman, a too-recent reboot that isn’t going to provide enough time and distance from the earlier efforts (like Nolans Batman did)
Heck, I think the new Spiderman reboot, which ties into the MCU, is going to have real challenges. And Spideys supposed to be Marvel’s flagship property.
Garfield won’t be in the 3rd one.
They are superior to Tobey Maguires utter trash.
Well, that does it. I’ll never watch this movie.
Oh wait, I wasn’t going to anyway.
what was wrong with the one guy they had playing him? That was a great role. Te dynamic between him and the rock guy was great.
It’d be better if he started off white, then was black after his first encounter with his new power.

Watch Dr. Who. About 25% of the characters — and ALL the white girls’ boyfriends — are black. Even though the UK has only about 3% black population.
They still can’t get the look of “The Thing” right. They were closer with the previous incarnation. The sooner Sony loses the rights to this, the better. (Heck, even the Corman version is closer to the comic than this version).
However, I don’t think they should make any more FF standalone films. They need to be like cameo characters in Avengers or something.
For children, yeah.
